Early MOT test

It says on the paper copy of the MOT the earliest date that you can have it tested and preserve the expiry date for next year.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

surprised Her Maj even knows what an MOT is - don't the cars all get swapped before then ?0

Whilst getting the mot on one of my cars last week I asked what happens with cars that had a 6 month extension to the mot due to covid. The response I received was that if it passes the new certificate is 12 months regardless of whether you are within the 30 days of the due date. A bigger concern was the suggestion that a failed mot results in immediate cancellation of the extended mot.
Now regretting letting the mot extend on the other car. I know it is safe because my own standards of maintainance far exceed the ludicrously low mot pass requirement and it had a major service 2 weeks ago which included a pre mot inspection but still a pain if it fails on Something minor but requiring parts.0 -

The primary grooves of the tread pattern must be at least 1.6mm deep within the central three-quarters of the breadth of tread and around the entire outer circumference of the tyre (see diagram 1).
"Pass-and-advise" suggests that tyre is tread-challenged outside of that centre 3/4. It's knackered, it's just not quite illegal.Either side of the central three-quarters of the tyre can be devoid of tread (‘bald’).
