Make one claim, it'll need to be at least £150 + (3 x £80) = £390 for the policy to save you money. Make one claim a year, they'll each need to be at least £150 + £80 = £230 for the policy to save you money. Make four claims a year, they'll each need to be £150 + (£80/4) = £170 for the policy to save you money. But I'll bet the insurer will blacklist you for claiming that often.
How much have you spent on scratches and dings in the last three years...?
I got sent an email from my GAP insurer about their Dent and Scratch insurance. I think it was a MAX of 3 separate claims, a claim can only be on one panel (if there is a dent spanning 2 panels it doesn't qualify) and it only covers dents that can be SMART repaired rather than body shop. On a car that is not new and fresh from the dealer they ask you to make loads of photographs first. So I suppose the question is: what is the going rate for a Smart Repairer to treat 1 panel? (Their preferred supplier is Chipsaway) Times this by 3. I am fairly sure it is quite easy to get 3 repairable dents or scratches on a car over 3 years. If you are on finance I suppose you need to weigh up what the cost to repair the damage might be when you return the car (or is it likely that most SMART repairable dents would be covered by the BVRLA standard wear and tear guidelines?)
These types of insurance, what I call minior insurance, EG boiler cover, white goods cover, tyre cover, dents cover - when you renew or take out a new insurance policy, does that count as a claim if you claim for dent, puncted tyre etc? TIA x
Insurance isn't a strong point of yours is it?
Careful, you'll get reported for being "unfriendly".
And being friendly is so much more important on this forum than accuracy of advice. Still, we mustn't grumble.
