Buying a new car

My understanding is that the car should not be taxed and registered until the day it is delivered to you. Otherwise, you are losing warranty period but not with the benefit of use.
Who is insuring the new car in the mean time? OP cannot / should not insure a car they have never been responsible for.0 -
The car is not at the dealers yet and thanks for all your help1

If the car is not yet at the Dealer's premises, it should not yet be taxed and registered (unless you were buying the car as a pre-reg).
I suspect that, if even the Dealer has not taken delivery of the car, that means the option to reject the car is not an option. You would have to cancel the order if the terms and conditions permit that. What did they say about delivery time?0 -

Many years ago one of my siblings wanted a smallish people carrier - it was the ford focus type people carrier I forget what you call them - it had eltric handbrake problems on the auto so dealer could not offer even an approx del date so they backed out and got something elses.

Btw dear OP
Delviery dates are only estimates and anyone telling you different is not telling the truth. If the car has already been made then that can be different but when its being manufactures many things can go wrong.
One of family had their car on its way and Audi Q7 years ago and the ship carrying it grouded and the car was damaged and there are the risks.0 -

I'm surprised the car is registered if it's not at the dealers - unless it's simply not at those particular premises, but IS elsewhere in that dealer's chain.
What do you actually want off them? The car tomorrow? An apology? A discount? The ability to cancel?
Remember, if the recall had come after delivery, then you would be waiting for the parts just the same.1
