As I understand the UK address registered should show that one is on the Electoral Register
Not necessarily, it's quite possible to be electronically detected as resident at an address, for the purpose of opening and holding accounts, without being on the electoral roll - as in my case.
    Evolution, not revolution

I am in the opposite situation, as a UK resident and I have a French bank account that i use regularly over there. I used to live there and owned a French house but have now sold it and my French bank, Credit Agricole have my UK address as my home.
I have not heard anything from them about having to close my account.

Many banks throughout the world have a presence in London and Credit Agricole are well established in the city so I presume that they have gone through the process of obtaining the relevant licence to operate from next year. I'm no expert but it would seem likely that they can continue to deal with you for this reason.

Having an address in the City (or Mayfair, depending on the business) is still felt to be important for banks. I do wonder whether this will continue to be the case in the years to come though. Brexit and the end of the various Libors might knock the sheen off of it.

Poor article from MSE. Doesn't even mention Transferwise as a practical backstop arrangement. Nor does it address whether and what issues exist for people living in the UK who have bank accounts in the EEA.

I have been told tonight that NatWest have now withdrawn their offer to EU residents to open a U.K. bank account as from last Monday thus pulling the rug from under those who have lost their Lloyd’s, Barclays nd Coutts accounts.

Is that Natwest group or just Natwest bank? I.e. is the Ulster bank offer (still on their website) dead now? Who told you?

@Concepta: if you are resident in the UK, you can try the Euro account at Starling Bank
