  • Used car prices are crazy right now. We were planning on changing my DHs car in but our local dealer says they are poor value to buy and prices will come down when new car supply is reinstated. Good news you have the option of getting rid now though should you want to.

Used car prices have gone mad. We were looking the other day at work and our Hyundai which we bought for £7300 a few years ago is worth more than we paid for it then. Madness really.

Same with our motorhome. That has gone up since we bought it in April and looks likely to go up again now that the 2022 prices for new vans have come out with a 16% increase on last years prices. It could prove to have been a shrewd purchase the way things are going.

Who knows where prices are heading everything seems a little bit silly rn. People want unreal amounts of money for everything I’m starting to get to the point I’m somewhat concerned what 2022-24 has in store tbh. Nothing seems quite ‘right’ at the moment. Could just be my head though lol.

Sitting considering a new res mortgage I thought can’t count on sub 2% rates forever. Some of you will probably laugh at this would have the option to get a 29 yr deal if I did it this/ coming next year (not going to) and I thought to myself no will just get a new 25 yr deal would pay it off a bit sooner haha something !!!!!! wrong with me today. 😆
  • I'd be extremely tempted to get rid of the noose around your neck if you can do it and be in credit with the option to get something much else much more friendly to the environment and not such a huge commitment
Put the house on the back burn for now , but seriously if your loving the electric car and can save yourself having to find the balloon payment , what on earth are you waiting for

  • Lots to think about and great that you are doing it in such a level headed way. Really good to read. Keep up the good work!

Know you and your boy enjoyed the 6 Nations rugby so thought I would say that on Saturday the Barbarians (team of players from a mix of countries and clubs) are playing against Samoa, should be a good game full of tries so if it's a cold day and want to stay inside it would be a good one to watch!
Current mortgage (1 Jun 2022): £289,501 - originally £351,999 got to love London sized mortgages!
    OP Goal 2022 = 3.75% in OPs: £6,975 / £13,200
Emergency Fund Target: 3 months saved ✅

A chink in the RR love affair :)

Take your time, but its great you can see choices other than keeping that RR til it dies opening up. Certainly plenty more options if you don't have a nigh on £50k bullet to find in the next few years.

And a possible house move for lifestyle/location/personal reasons getting some airtime, rather than just the 7 figures for the sake of it target.

Thought processes changing by the day @alt80

Hope you get some bettter rest soon. I get that this is a bit of a triggering time of year.

I know what you mean about worrying what the next few years have in store. It does feel as though there is going to be a big change on the horizon. Not just your head this time 😀

Just thought off the top of my head for you. Dont rush into anything at the moment as you are still recovering. Give yourself some time to live your new life before making big decisions. Remember that your wife also needs to be involved with any decision making regarding your home and car. If you moved further awayyour son may have difficulty with play dates etc and would getting him to and from school cause difficulties?

    Day 176

Had a busy morning and fair bit planned for the rest of the day but thanks all. Lot to consider generally.

Black Friday today fml my Mrs made me laugh this morning, scrolling through IG as she does and she says to me it’s just ‘full of pretty but dim girls selling tat for Black Friday’. Apparently she can’t be bothered with it anymore but been there before and we’ll see lol.

I’m trying to remember how long BF has really been a thing in the UK? I think it’s about 6/7 years started with idiots fighting over !!!!!! TVs in Asda iirc now it’s absolutely everywhere. Idk becoming a cynical !!!!!! in my old age.

Likewise Christmas we are waiting to get our tree delivered this year. Wife said she isn’t really as bothered about it this year more looking forward to next year’s holiday plans etc. We need to make an effort for son and I’m sure the day will be nice, have my in-laws coming over again MIL going to help with lunch. Unfortunately not just us and the parents in law also have one of wife’s siblings and family. Possibly my sister, her husband and children if his mum is still refusing to cook a roast. They all wind up round here because I’ve got ‘a big house’ not !!!!!! big enough for all them turning up lol can tell you that. Bring the !!!!!! lockdown back.
