Thanks all made it through day 168 (24*7 ha thanks @theoretica lol does make me smile there's a few of us on here who like the numbers lol). Managed to keep it AF as I said I would, had a bit of a wobble at dinner time but forced myself not to order wine and ultimately pleased although I have had a really high calorie !!!!!! gluttonous day not a chance my Mrs was going to get her !!!!!! mfp stats from me today fml. Anyway that's why I'm up having gone to bed once with the wife I can't sleep. Got to work was fed a piece of cake secretary had made for me tasted so good I had another slice. Sister took me out for lunch !!!!!! 3 course job tbf really glad she came up to NG we were always close until recently and today like old times. Got a bit of work done afternoon but not much before the next 3 course meal. How I got through it idk but I did. In-laws did nothing silly in the restaurant but had another !!!!!! cake ready at home so we're on coffee and cake round 159, looking at the !!!!!! thing like that fat kid in Matilda who's given that !!!!!! massive chocolate cake and made to eat it. How I'm getting through the night idk. Little bit wired on caffeine can very much assure it's nothing else but I'm def wide awake.

Few nice gifts too tbh quite nice to receive a few things after not spending anything on myself for what seems like a !!!!!! age - know it isn't but is for me ha.

@Willowtree222 meant to answer the other day re next milestone - I'm aiming for 250 days for reward.

@capuchin thanks mate. I'm trying to stay as positive as I can but some of it is me just having a twisted sense of humour tbh plenty of days I struggle to get through but I have to look forward and keep on the programme. Without writing a !!!!!! essay about my life over the past I don't even know how many years the days I count on here don't just relate to spending as you may/ may not have gathered. Anyhow not sure where I sign up to the MP job but doesn't sound like too bad a side gig lol.

Re my wife, she has a few interests that aren't IG accounts/ her appearance: sport/ fitness/ gym and some creative stuff singing/ music etc. mainly fml if her appearance and IG was her whole entire existence I'm not sure I could !!!!!! cope mate.
  • That's life bud, just gotta soldier on. The twisted humour helps yep, but as you say yourself, it's getting better and you're appreciating the more simple things! A good NC500 for example lol, reckon you'd love that with some fun driving without the need of booze and drugs to have fun! (Can hire out a boat up that end too to make it a bit special) - Think its like a process of 'getting back yourself' however much bull!!!! that might sound - breaking it all down as you do here to the component parts. I do get it though, some days I just feel like I don't wanna wake up!

How about setting her up with a fitness studio and some broadcasting gear to do YT videos on fitness/gym workouts etc. like inspiring/influiencing other women in fitness? I reckon she could go for that as it will give her some attention lol as well as being like, influencing others to do as she likes! And if she's good at it she'll make some $$$ for more IG moments haha.

I'd love to do NC500 become a bit of a goal to do it actually now I suppose I want a bit more from life than work and self destructive stuff. You're right re process I didn't engage with recovery initially it did seem like BS but been better to buy in than carry on down the road I was on. 'Getting back myself' some of the problem tbh more like finding myself at 41 whilst everyone was finding themselves in 20s my 20s was business, spending and out at the weekend nothing else and 30s business, spending and really !!!!!! self destructive stuff nothing else. Sounds !!!!!! awful but I'm only just really getting to know my wife and son. How I still have a family god only !!!!!! knows but I do and I can't tell you how grateful I am to have them no matter how !!!!!! cringe that sounds.

I'm sorry you know what the not wanting to wake up feels like I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy I've been there, still am some days never have had any self worth another reason I find recovery really !!!!!! hard.

Re wife she did PT quals and started to work with a few women. It didn't end well. Tbf something like video might actually work for her rather than having actual clients she wound up getting very frustrated with (for the most part they lacked commitment and my Mrs is committed to the gym tbf) - realistically anything I've tried to get her into she lacks consistency and it goes nowhere so not massively up on the list of my priorities tbh.

Dont laugh I had to look up what NC500 is. It sounds a beautiful trip but as I am not allowed to drive and DH wouldnt even consider it I dont think it is likely to happen. At the moment I doubt I am fit enough to get out of the west country to make the trip to Scotland let alone do a long road trip. Feeling lousy this morning after flu and pneumonia jabs yesterday. Struggling to take the dogs out so going to have a sleep soon and see if that helps.
Glad you had a largely good birthday and you and your sister are getting back on track. Have a good day.
  • Sounds like a lovely birthday. I’m really pleased your sister came up and it sounds like you are too.

250 will be here before you know it.

Nothing wrong with too much cake on your birthday!

happy belated birthday mate.  sounds like a fabulous day on the calorie front, but reminds me of the vicar of dibley xmas episode where she has to eat a full dinner with everyone

Glad you are still on track 168 = 24x7 - yep I would have got that.  this time in 2 weeks you will be just over half a year - that's substantial achievement

hope you are not finding winter too gloomy - always a bit of a downer for me - but grit your teeth and press on
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine
  • Hi Alt belated happy birthday. Another with a birthday this week and I am still finding myself at 56 it's a learning curve (mentally and definitely physically lol). Anyway on the NC500 I did it with a friend in 2020 (between lockdowns luckily) with Rabbie's Tours. It was a minibus with a guide. You have set destinations, but book your own accommodation in each place. The guide was fab, as was the group we were with and the scenery, so amazing. Maybe something to consider so that you can enjoy looking at it without worrying about the driving x

    Day 170 thanks all.

had a brilliant day generally it’s been wonderful. Amazing way to celebrate my birthday and last birthday early Christmas for son, loved every minute and my boy has been so happy although I struggled with sleep Thursday and last night so not felt too well. Did manage a nap today tbh first time in a while but really bad drug cravings. Glad I wasn’t home but I would like to think I would have got through anyway. Today we’ve spent a fair bit wife been paying and told me to forget about it until home. Nothing really stupid just nice food, few other bits and a few gifts for people. Idk until recently I wouldn’t have cared at all it’s a good thing I’m starting to value my personal money as well as business finances I think.

re NC500 I’d like to take my Range Rover. Interesting idea with guide though tbf although I don’t think it’d be too bad wife doing 100 miles and me doing 100 miles. I definitely want to be alright though not suffering too much with the sleep and not leaving my wife to have to drive 9/10 miles or whatever that wouldn’t be fair. Next year we are hoping to go to Greece twice, centre parcs twice and a couple of other weekend breaks so I don’t see it happening until 2023. Plenty of time to plan. Wife knows and likes the idea of it too.

Happy birthday @vampirotoothus and you got lucky with the trip being between lockdowns last year!

@ladyholly hope you get well soon and can get out with the dogs tomorrow. One day off won’t kill them haha.

@Willowtree222 for the first time I think 250 days will come around. It was good to see my sister. We are going to visit them before Christmas no doubt my BIL will get some value out of that ha.

Re cake lol I have to laugh but I wasn’t well yesterday at all. Ate a chicken salad, slice of toast and a Greek salad and that was it.

@mark55man thank you mate haha fml 100% re Vicar Of Dibley lol forgot that existed my mum used to love it. I dread to !!!!!! think how many cals I ate Thursday but it was a good !!!!!! effort at least.

Wife said something similar re half a year told me she’s proud of me first time for everything haha

I find winter gloomy too but you’ve got it 100% - just need to get through and take a bit of joy when we can. 🙂
