Gmail, hidden emails?

Or possibly Google is "helpfully" moving those emails into category folders i.e. it's in one of the four folders called Social, Promotions, Updates, Forums.

If that's the case then they should still show in All Mail.

Sorry i missed that, but just checked all mail and it is not there!

I am still at a loss as to why this email is not showing in inbox or anywhere else unless I search for it?

Try all mail option still not exit? have a look with Sender sent list,

I have just been playing around with my Gmail. Appears there are 3 types of inbox, primary, promotions and social.  If you go into settings, under inbox categories, you can untick promotions and social to have all mail go into one inbox.
Not sure if this will relate to your problem.

Agree. To me seems like the most enduring "worst new idea" ever. I use gmail but do everything in my power to make it look like a regular MS Outlook inbox.
