Best for signal / router reliability - suggestions needed

We're due to come to the end of our contract with Plusnet and are looking to switch (as you do). The issue that we have had with Plusnet is the router. We are currently having to restart the router every day or so as connections keep dropping out. When it is just my partner and I in the house it isn't quite so bad but as soon as my kids come to stay it is horrendous. The kids aren't allowed on anything other than phones or laptops for homework until after 5pm to improve the chances of being able to work from home (VOIP calls, etc).
Can anyone recommend a good Internet Service Provider that provides a reliable router that would cope with 4 people using it (plus various other devices piggybacking on i.e. smart speakers, Hive thermostat, etc). We are limited to about 38MB on our line and can't get Virgin Media in our area.
Thanks in advance

There’s no need to use the router provided by your service provider, and in general they are not the best.
I’m on Plusnet, and am using a Linksys router, which is very reliable. You do need to enter your Plusnet account settings when you first get it, but that should be it.
Look for ADSL routers, these do the modem and the WiFi parts. Some that don’t say ADSL need a separate modem, such as a Draytek Vigor 130.1 -
BT Smart Hub 2 probably the best of the bigger brands .As opposed to paying £200 + for better .

All assuming your router is not faulty or your line? Have you done all the usual tests? As while I don't use PN that seems not normal. What do their forums say?Are you hard wired into the router? or all using wifi?1

I would try that before recommitting as it may be the line/local cabinet rather than something you can fix.1 -

Similar thing - in-laws have P/N - I had to reboot router the other day and noted that it was quite warm and slightly discoloured - ought they to ask for a replacement?Current one is TP Link IIRC, not one of the Tomson (sp?) ones that they now seem to have.0
