They are required to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people and doubt this includes sharing their card/pin.bradders1983 said:
Bad suggestion?!dahj said:
And if there is ever any card based fraud on the account?!bradders1983 said:I have literally told you twice what to do.
Give your friend the card
Tell him to go to the shop
Use the card to buy a low value item
And twice you have ignored this.
Why your friend just didnt go to a cash machine though... 🤷♂️
Bad suggestion and breaches the OPs agreement with the bank.
Go back and read the opening post, the bank have literally told the OP to get someone to go out and use the card, either in a shop or at an ATM. His friend for some reason did neither and went and queued up inside the bank 🤦♂️🤦♂️
This could all have been sorted for the next few years with the purchase of a pint of milk from the local shop for crying out loud.
Log a complaint and you'll likely find they'll magically find someone to manually generate a new card.0 -
Santander suggesting the first time that someone else use the OP’s card and pin to trigger a new card, it could happen, but for someone else in the bank to suggest it, someone that is supposedly dealing with a complaint, I am finding this hard to believe.0

Santander seem to have forgotten that the Debit Card is used for a lot of things other than face-to-face shop purchases. Seems utterly ludicrous to withdraw the card just because it hasn't been used to buy stuff in a shop. How, for instance, does one authenticate oneself in-branch to, for example, deposit a cheque?Fingerbobs said:
Just looked at my card, and found it expired last month and I have not received a replacement - so I can confirm that an online transaction definitely does not trigger a replacement debit card to be sent. Would have been nice if they had told me that!Fingerbobs said:I'm interested in this thread, because I too received a similar letter, and made an online transaction solely to keep the card alive - sounds like this won't actually work!

It seemed far more sensible to just add to the existing thread.

This is precisely why I have now moved away from Santander after four years of banking with them. I’ve had to rearrange most of my CPAs with other banks as Santander kept threatening to withdraw due to lack of use. They really need to change this silly rule. And as for needing cash, my cash always comes from another account, hence I never used the Santander one to wihtdraw cash. But as others have said, I did want to use it for online payments. Anyway, Santander are history now for me.Fingerbobs said:
