EDITED TO SAY: I see you are in, Lillibet! let me know when and if you want we can meet in advance for a cuppa, depending on what day you are appearing! Or are you not going to be there in the studio and only get filmed at home? Pls let me know!
Hi Martin, well done for organising this programme, I hope to see you from the audience! Have emailed for info today.
Any other MSErs going to be in the audience? We ought to go as a group, with banners and stuff!
Love to all
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Well done Martin you'll have your own chat show when they get rid of that old Yorky on Sunday.
Must admit to being slightly concerned about the intention to get people up to brag about how they have got away with things they should n't have. This can only lead to the companies that have been hit tightening up their act and shutting said loopholes. I'm happy to get away with what I can for example at Mr T's but I'm sure if they are shown in an embarrassing light on the show I won't be getting away with as much in the future. Any chance you can show a little restraint on this subject as we can only end up losing out if you give away too many trade secrets.

Love the idea of the show & will be watching but like others am a bit wary of showing all the loopholes.
I bought a car last week thanks to Tesco & I believe I was one of the first 2 do it with clubcard deals, however much as I would love my 5 mins of fame & to be on the telly i certainly wouldnt want to be recognised in tesco's and surely wouldnt that be the beginning of the end of Tesco Clubcard ?
If you show how to exploit a scheme then that scheme will be tightened up or shut down altogether. Please dont do it Martin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
other than that i think you should be knighted !!!The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.0 -
I agree - its a fantastic idea to have a show that raises awareness of financial issues and helps people get their lives in order, but asking people to go on TV about wombling for tesco points....bad move !. ......I thought that wasn't allowed by tescos - adding other's points to your account breaks the rules of the scheme so if you get people to talk about it on TV then they'll get into trouble and risk having their cc points removed.
There are a lot of grey areas on the MSE site like repeatedly getting huge cashback payouts on quidco from the same insurance sites...while not illegal its surely not in anyone's best interest to brag about it....the scheme's will be tightened up quick style. The minute a company realises its customers are getting a better deal than they intended, then rest assured moves will be taken - they fight their corner too !
Stick to educating people about their finances but I'd keep quiet about the slightly more 'inventive' ways of moneysaving.0 -
Hi guys - just a response to some of the notes above
1. This site has 3m users a month; and the weekly email goes to 1.6m far more than the new TV series is likely to get - so the idea that by just keeping it on the site doesn't quite work. Thus any loopholes that I do there are already in the public domain
2. Not everything we're asking for will automatically be a "everyone go out and do this". Matched betting is likely to be a 'it can be done, but most shouldn't' and wombling will be a 'people do this, but its against T&Cs' we may even show the person in black out.
3. As for Jubarnes getting a car from Tesco points fantastic. It's interesting you think Tesco will be annoyed; I suspect they'd be delighted as its great publicity and they ADDED the car points offer themselves. It's not a secret. Nor are the ways to get points. We'd love you on the show I'm sure
4. Remember folks IPTW is my show and my production company; and while I'm not in total control of it I understand all the issues above implicitly. I think some of the comments are jumping the gun about how we'll handle things.

I'd also add that I think its a little naive to think that the higher echelon of Tesco staff don't read the forums here, I happen to know my local manager does0

Most peeps that have enough points to get a car, or an expensive holiday are peeps that have used codes not issued to them etc though.
Also wombling not sure that is legal exactly.
Dont get me wrong, Im an avid collector but, dont think we should have womblers on telly :rotfl:Pawpurrs x0 -
Showing my ignorance (and I am not even a newbie): What on earth is wombling?Reclaimed thanks to this site:

hi martin, from being on this site ive saved alot of money, but have also cottoned on to tesco thanks to this site. the general feeling about serious collecting of tesco points is that its not "in the spirit of the clubcard scheme" and there are many instances of bans from tesco being given to members who have been using loopholes, mocs and taking advantage of what tesco stupidly does sometimes.
i for one dont seriously think tesco doesnt know what goes on, but i do feel if people go on this programme and talk about exploiting tesco, pretty soon offers from clubcard will cease to be as good as holidays and cars and alot of people will recieve bans.
i think this programme will mean tesco will check everyones account who has 10000 plus points.my boots and tesco addictions are costing me a fortune
 :j
