Your next car, will it be electric?

For the first time we are considering an electric car. Never been in one or a hybred for that matter. A bit off putting as the closest we have been to an electric car is the bumping cars years ago, or the underground so I guess its a bit like that, ie fast from 0 to ?? but then the power zaps out quickly. If one is to trust media reports the batteries are getting better and retain charges for longer and quicker to charge.
TBH, pollution etc when buying a car never bothered us as we just wanted nice big, fast cars but older now, we do think about our grandchildren having seen the pollution in london on a hot day from the heights of Royal Greenwich park.
Having said the above, my OH may not be ready to pay the extra for the next Range Rover, S Class etc and in his view the eletric cars will get better and cheaper so a real possibility in 2/3 yrs time, but it could be in 2012 as never say never.

Have you thought of buying one or got one? IMO you need a drive to charge and feel vulnerable as charge goes out.
Those Tesla SUV's, saw one drive up in a Merc garage last year and I never knew the SUV had gull-winged doors, well I
saw
the back one oopen like that did not see the front open but it looked nice on the inside from a distance.

I don't know what you're actually wanting information on, as it just seems like you've written random thoughts in a post, but there are a couple of threads on EVs already on the forum. There is plenty of information on them if you are interested in buying one.

Nope, never thought of anything other than ICE. Diesel suits my needs best. Ev cannot match it.
  • Diesel for me for a long time to come hopefully.
  • "Have you thought of buying one or got one?"
Most certainly not and no. Nor would I ever contemplate buying some overpriced perceived status symbol!
  • got peugeot diesel at the moment. had that 4 years.reliable comftable and zero road tax. probably keep it till doomsday, and worry about next car then I guess.
