I suppose it depends what car you have.  For my car, a complete set of new budget tyres was under £200, so makes 're-treads' hardly worth it.  I suppose the saving is greater if you have a car where tyres are £1k a pop.  I never understand why anyone would buy that type of car if they can't afford the massive running costs that go with it.
  • Why are you 'kin about with second hand tyres anyway?
  • update:
    Spoke to trading standards
Re contacted business and left message asking to speak to owner about sending a letter of complaint as instructed
They contacted back and offered a refund
Took back tyre, they didnt even check it and gave refund
Got what i wanted however its still bad customer service and a waste of time.
I learnt that only some businesses are registered with regulatory bodies and have official complaints procedures
