NORTON AUTO RENEWAL - TAKING MONEY 4 WEEKS BEFORE RENEWAL

Options
Hi Everyone,
Just to let you know that I discovered that Norton had taken an auto renewal of £89.99 from my credit card this week, FOUR weeks before my subscription expired.
Yes they had sent me an email in advance but Norton 360 had put it into Spam.
I phoned up (after going through 6 pages on their web site to get a number to ring) to complain and ask for a refund and was told that as my subscription expired on 9th October they take the money from my account on 9th September. I had looked to see what there policy was about when they took the money and it was nowhere on their site, just that they send an email before renewal. I was anticipating this in October and not August when they sent it.
My 84 year old mother in law has been caught out by this and got so confused trying to find out how to get a refund that she gave up trying. Their tactic obviously worked with her.
The end result is that they agreed to a refund but not until they tried to keep me by offering a half price deal, £45.00 is still double what i can buy the product on Amazon and elsewhere.
advice for the future is cancel the auto renew as soon as a subscription is taken out, the hassle of answering all their questions on page after page is worth the hassle if it stops a large chunk of money disappearing from your account.
Brilliant programme on last night and its wonderful that you are helping kids in the schools, its a shame these big organisations cant fund it for you.

The point is you need to switch those auto-renew payments off on all those Antivirus software.
They all rope in the naive with cheap initial deals so they can gather debit card / direct debit details.
So they can nail you the following year.
They've been at this for many years, but I've never heard of them swooping a full month early. Maybe getting desperate?

Best advice is to avoid paid for AV. For the vast majority it is just not needed.

No, the best advice is to avoid paying silly prices for any AV software. Paid for AV software often offers additional features not available in free AV software such as VPN, Password manager, better support etc.
