Hi guys, i've realised that there any cheaper energy deals out there at the moment, even within the current supplier that i'm with and was looking into changing today possibly, but my question is would it be better to wait until the 1st October before I look into switching tariff. From what I can tell the price cap will affect some tariffs and not others.

Be aware that the price cap only applies to standard variable (or Evergreen tariffs) most people can do a lot better by having a trawl around with a comparison site.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

No! The price cap is only for the most expensive variable tariffs. If it applies to you then you are massively overpaying. Ignore the price cap and switch ASAP.0

You should have got yourself a fixed tariff last week. Most of the market has now increased by £50 for the year at TDCV
The price cap only affects people who don't switch and stay on deemed/default tariffs. However the costs behind them are at a lag by a few months.
Fixed tariffs in comparison are normally priced based on current costs of Elec and Gas. With costs having risen a lot in the last month or 2, most of the tariffs on the market now are more expensive than they were before.0
