Hello,
We are students who are living living in our student house for a second year. Last year we signed up for Virgin internet paying £26 a month but this is now going up to £49 a month. We have looked into changing providers but Virgin is the only one with good internet speeds in our area (and as there are 5 of us we need a decent speed). Does anyone know if we cancel our contract and then take another out in someone else's name will we be able to get the lower rate again? Or are there any other ways to get cheaper broadband, we really cannot afford to pay £49 a month!
Thank you

Yes, no reason why you cannot give 30 days notice to terminate all services. Sign up as new customer in a different name. Virgin will send out a new hub and you will have to return the old one. If there is a telephone, you will lose the number.
Outbounds team may try to contact you to make you a retention offer within a few working days of giving 30 days notice. Customers cannot contact Outbounds team.
Also, I thought Virgin offers these shorter 12 months deals specifically to students:

If you cancel your Virgin Package I can get somone from Virgin Sales to arrange to call you to set up a new contract on the student deal if you need any help with that0

I call every year to virgin that I am switching to BT, and every year they either match or reduce their price. It's a stupid game we have to do as loyalty doesn't count for much these days.0
