P.S. nobody needs to fold socks, so long as you can grab two that are very similar, that'll do most of the time :)
I once bought my husband about 8 pairs of identical socks - more for my benefit than his, so I could match them up easily after washing. Unfortunately they appeared after 2 or 3 washes to have come from completely different dye-lots and varied from blueish through grey (which is what I thought I'd bought) to greenish. Some if them didn't even qualify as very similar!

Ive started to go through some of her podcasts and there have been many cringe moments when I think yep that's me. She is easy listening and is very honest. Some of her ideas won't work in a single household like running the dishwasher daily but I can certainly stack it daily at least (obvious I know but I am one of those that leaves stuff on the top in the hope a gang of fairies come in and sort it  :#
Anyway thanks for the link and you never know this one may make a difference
  • I will probably take a look at this, thanks. :)

Good to see the self confessed slobs coming out of the overflowing closet  :D
I always called it CHAOS ...cant have anyone over syndrome and I am that person who quite honestly would not welcome an uninvited guest. I have been slowly getting my act together and also like apint have pretty tidy clothes drawers but for me its the visible stuff like kitchen surfaces floors coffee tables. So its a marathon not a sprint and for me her podcasts have at least made me open my eyes and realise the extent of my slobbery

Life is too short to be constantly cleaning in my view. I had one friend who would invite you round for dinner then spend most of the evening cleaning including mopping the kitchen floor around you while you ate dinner  :D ....I will never want to be that person but small habit changes are helping. Last nights dishes in the magic cupboard and I cleaned a small part of my bathroom this morning washing done and put away, now its about continuing
  • I laughed when I read your post @Apintplease because I’m completely in agreement about daily housework being pointless, I don’t enjoy it for its own sake (I know there are some people who actually enjoy the process of cleaning but I am not one of them!) and it just needs doing again the next day. However I have slowly come to realise that doing it every day, or at least regularly, can actually be easier than leaving it.I am going to try and build some better regular habits. With that in view, I swept the kitchen floor again today

  • @PollyWollyDoodle , I do the important stuff like wipe down the kitchen when its been used and the kitchen table and run the swifter over the floor. Clean the loo and bathroom sink and shower. Im not ashamed to let people into my house, even the in-laws who are so house proud I dress up to go to theirs lol

Its just dusting and hoovering and the such that I cant see the point of. Ive just walked past the tv and the sun is on it and theres a HUGE spiders web on it that I haven't noticed before. - opps

Right now Im sitting here on the sofa and I can see 3 pairs of assorted shoes and slippers on the floor, 5 balls of yarn and various hooks lying up beside me, the extension lead running across the floor, empty coke can, even emptier purse, iPad, BP monitor, box of tissues on the coffee table beside me and various bits and pieces that don't even belong inside the house such as screws, washers, screwdrivers sitting along side the tv. Not the mention the overflowing yarn bag tucked into the corner of the room, the granddaughters desk in another thats piled high with half coloured sheets of paper and pens and pencils . Its those things that let me down because no sooner do I clear them away, I turn around and they are back again so I just think sod it and let them lay. And of course, the the surfaces are cluttered, no point in dusting and polishing :)

Anyway nowt is being done today as Ive cooking to do so it will just have to wait. And anyways tomorrow the sun won't shine so the dust will be invisible again - RESULT !!!!
  • Oh, I’m not a COMPLETE slob. I do the jobs that avoid poisoning guests or answering awkward questions from Environmental Health!
I have fought a lifelong battle with untidiness, and if the place was tidy cleaning would be much easier, although I still wouldn’t be excited about doing it. I have finally acknowledged that the problem is just having too much stuff.

I'm making progress but it's slow. I left the dishwasher on Thursday night as there was definitely room in it for Friday's stuff s we were eating out. Not putting on tonight as there is definitely room for today's stuff. We only had jacket potatoes with beans etc tonight.
Had time taken up over daughter and her broken down fridge freezer. She has CFS/ME and lives in a flat down the road, so had to get a new one ordered for her, clear the old one, take the camping fridge there, bring her stuff back here and sort it out from the freezer. What a palaver. Then down there from 7.30 this morning for deliver of new one. Then back to make her lunch, then back this evening to take some stuff to put back in the freezer. Going away for a few days tomorrow, so needed to have everything sorted out as hub will be taking care of her while I'm away. She was upset that her 2 full tubs of local icecream melted completely!
I cleared a load of popsocks out of a drawer. Loads!  Kept the ones I actually wear. My favourites, if there is such a thing with popsocks!
Been listening (being brainwashed ) to her podcasts. If I hear it enough times......
