The new Expired Competition procedure is supposed to transfer expired competitions from Competitions Time to Game Over on the day after the posted Closing Date.
There seems to be a number of things going wrong with this procedure.
1) I have just done a search on Competitions Time for competitions ending 06/09. This should give no results as these should all now be in Game Over.
However, it is producing 11 results here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/search?adv=1&search=&title=%2206%2F09%22&author=&cat=72&tags=&discussion_d=1&within=1+day&date=
Ignoring the first result which shows a visible Closing Date of 12/09, the remaining 10, all showing a Closing Date of 06/09 and all bar 1 labelled as Game Over are still actually in Competitions Time.
2) The competition here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6160995/e-02-09-win-an-original-book-cover-sketch-by-keith-burns#latest, which has a closing date of 02/09 and should have moved to Game Over on 03/09, has actually been moved to Site Feedback.
And another one:-
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6179620/e-02-09-win-1-of-300-packs-of-anchor-branded-beeswax-wraps
This search shows 9 Closed comps that should be in Game over that have gone to I won I won I won:-

Edit : These are now showing correctly but this one is in Site Feedback: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6176145/e-02-09-win-frozen-ii-craft-sets-gleam#latest

its not been set up yet to transfer expired comps, we as bg's still manually do them every morning. I have checked your links above and they all seem in the correct pace now?We move them by doing a date, then closed search and moving from there to GO.I have flagged this thread up the forum team though to have a look to see if we have glitchesI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. If they are correctly in Game Over, why is search showing them in a Competitions Time search?
If you do the the same search (i.e. for end dates "04/09", "06/09" and "02/09") in Game Over, these threads do not appear in the results.
Is this a Search reporting problem?2 -

The 2 threads I showed as in Site Feedback do now seem to have been moved to Game Over; But I have found another one still in Site Feedback. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6176145/e-02-09-win-frozen-ii-craft-sets-gleam#latest Now also corrected...but here's another one https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6172680/e-02-09-win-a-sharkskin-chillproof-chesty-vest-hood-sox-socks-and-gloves-diving#latest and another https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6171210/e-01-09-win-a-600-le-creuset-cookware-bundle#latest...and another https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6168503/e-01-09-win-handwritten-lyrics-signed-by-roger-taylor#latest

I think part of the problem is related to the display problems I have reported on SF, where Vanilla doesn't seem to know in which forum/sub-forum a particular thread exists.2 -

I think part of the problem is related to the display problems I have reported on SF, where Vanilla doesn't seem to know in which forum/sub-forum a particular thread exists.
With the new format end date still invisible to everyone except the OP (and BG's), it does make it difficult to see why some threads are not where they should be.
So, it would seem that the problem of expired threads going to places other than Game Over must be a manual error when the BG's do the transfer. (At the present time there are still 3 threads that have been moved to Site Feedback that need moving to Game Over)
Apart from this, it is search that is wrongly thinking some threads are still in Competitions Time when they are actually in Game Over. So if you are looking for an expired comp and can't find it in Game Over, it could be because search thinks it is still current and you need to search Competitions Time as well.
This isn't just the the display problem as they are (mostly) showing as "Competition Time - Game Over" but search is listing them under category 72, (Competitions Time) in the url.

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/search?cat=72&adv=1&search=lovereading
That url is a search for lovereading on Competitions Time (Category 72) and should only be showing results for current competitions.
However, the last three results are one that expired on 31/08 and two that expired on 06/09.
All three are correctly labelled as in Game Over and clicking through to the posts shows them as being in Game Over.
So why are these three coming up as results in this search on Competitions Time?1 -
We have been told that the indexing of threads are tied to the same underlying issues we have been having with pages 'disappearing' on Techie Stuff and some of the other boards. This isn't unique to MSE and can happen on high-volume and busier Forums using the same platform - the team is focussing on solving this but it's a complex issue.
On an incredibly busy forum with discussions being created, replied to and moved, it can sometimes take a while for the updates to fully execute and at busy times this can lead to these issues.
Especially in Competitions Time, we have customised the functionality around expiry, filtering and Entering/Skipping which adds to the complexity. We are keen to improve on all of the issues you've noted but it's going to take a while as we don't want to compromise or break any of the additional functionality we spent time returning after the re-platform.
We'll keep you updated as we can.0
