Insurance forced onto me by mortgage adviser

  • Submit it in writing and send it with proof of purchase (free from post office) demanding they cancel the policy (again assuming it wasn't some fee free based model that required the insurance). I had this with GAP for my car, we discussed it (didn't agree to it) in the sales pitch but the dealer signed me up anyway and then messed around saying they had put it in the finance so couldn't remove it, so I wrote to them and got the finance company to cancel it

Will do that Farfetch, good idea.

As an update, they set up a Direct Debit in my name last week and have asked me to sign the Direct Debit form after the matter in the paperwork that has arrived in the post today. The paperwork was a huge amount, and I spent an hour trying to find out about cooling off period where it mentions in the middle of a 40 page booklet that the 14 day cooling off period starts from receiving the documents.

I rang them up and was on hold for 45 minutes for them to tell me my 14 day cooling off period has passed as it started the day I moved and the day the email from the mortgage adviser was sent (contrary to what that email said). When I quoted the policy booklet she said they can't deal with it and only my mortgage adviser (who won't respond still) can access the policy...

Absolute farce, imagine if I was one of the many people of this nation that would either roll over and take this or not realise it is happening.

Cancellation rights begins within 14 days of you receiving the notification. Not when they send it.

Formal complaint time as you are really being messed around.
