I am a luddite and in despair with my mobile.  Its on a Virgin SIM and ive bought a replacement unlocked handset recently as my old S4 charging port was broken.  Popped the old SIM into the new replacement S4 and ive not been able to enable mobile data when out and about.  at home the wifi is fine.   with mobile data selected if i try to get onto the internet from the back of the garden a good 10 metres away from the back door i get a message that "states internet connection unstable".   I just cannot get to speak to a virgin customer services person - i just end up going around in circles where all they want to do is send you texts with links.  It would be nice to be able to talk a human being that can help me directly over the phone.   I have tried the APN settings that are widely bandied about online but its just not happening-its soul destroying.  in APNs i now have 3;- one is named Virgin, the 2nd is named MMS and the 3rd is named WEB probably from me entering and trying different codes........i cannot see how to remove any of these if they are not needed.
on the home screen it shows Virgin as the network.
under available networks in the settings it shows virgin, vodafone, 02-UK and 3 UK.  i cant seem to be able to "select" virgin unless thats just how it is.
just wondering if the kitkat software on the phone (a galaxy S4) is 4.4.2. is just too outdated.   my old phone was also a galaxy S4 but i never had a problem and not sure what software that was running.
any phone techs here that can guide me through would be great.......the connection in the home is fine but its just away from the house that mobile data is not working. id like to think i have tried everything but its possible ive missed something.   not sure whether purchasing a brand new SIM is the easiest workaround to avoid these issues as I could upgrade for another £1-2 a month?  or will the new SIM also require "setting up" with APNs etc? or are they plug and play?
