food banks will get you food.

baked beans, bread, pasta and rice are pretty cheap food to get.

Most payroll systems are fairly inflexible with tight deadlines. They need absolute attention to detail and last minute 'fiddling about' isn't always easy. It may well be that the bank payments are set up several days before the 'pay now' button is pressed.

  • Definitely ask a food bank for help. And also baked beans value bread and homemade soup will help to fill everyone up x

  • My husband doesn't have a current account just a cash card account and his salary is paid into my current account. This is due to problems with gambling when we first got together. Organising our money this way really helped at the time and we have just never changed it back again. But pleased to say no gambling or dishonesty for many many years now x

it is a bit naughty that they haven't given him notice of this.
Could you get him to open a bank account with Starling / Monzo so he has access to one asap so he can get paid?

Can he ask his employer for a cash advance, even if not his full wage, due to hardship?

For food suggestions, Tesco do reductions in our local store around 6pm and you can pick up a pack of bread rolls for about 10 - 15p, if you have a freezer you could get a fair bit of bread in at least for a couple of quid (or just go every couple of days).
