having sky install a dish and then cancelling?

My aerial has been knocked off so i'm currently without a way to watch tv except through tv player on a firestick.
i had the idea to have sky install a dish (set up fee seems to be £20 for sky Q, hopefully i could say i want sky hd with an existing box) and then cancel straight after and then just use as a freesat solution.
is that doable? or am i not thinking of something? i have lots of old sky hd boxes so that wouldn't be an issue

You'll be charged for the install. though it's possible they might not bother removing the dish. This assumes you cancel during the cooling off period--exceed that and you are in contract for a year.
Why not just get your aerial refixed? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
You could be waiting a while for them to install.0

yes cancelling during the cooling off period.the reason i wouldn't just get my aerial fixed is that A) it'd cost more than the subsidised sky installation and
it would be kind of useful to have a freesat solution set up as a backup if i choose to have the aerial fixed at some point as well

It's almost certainly guaranteed it'll be a SkyQ only LNB they'll install which means you won't be able to use it with your Sky+HD box. It's also certainly granted that you'll end up with a new SkyQ contract for 18 months as well. Sky don't do Sky+HD "new installs" anymore, but if you still have an active legacy product I dare say they would come out to get it working again if it packs up.Might be better to get a local company to stick a dish up or get your aerial fixed.2
