Should my daughters school let her finish early

Dark nights won't happen until the clocks change at the end of October, so you've got until October half term to sort something out.
Have you contacted the bus company to see what their long term plans are for this route? If they don't intend ever ressuming it, then you've got an issue. Not just a temporary one for part of yr9. but what you're doing until she finishes GCSEs. If that's the case either you'll need to find an alternative such as a different school or being able to be picked up by car or throw some money at the situation such as a taxi home.2 -
I have a daughter in year 9 and live a similar distance from her school. I wouldn't want her walking home alone either, agree it's not too far to walk but her route would take her across a couple of very busy roads and through a subway that is a bit dodgy so I wouldn't want her to do it.
Luckily the school put a bus on now but they didn't in her first year so I had to adjust my working hours to suit on some days and rely on her dad / my dad on other days. Is this an option maybe?

Do you drive OP, could you pick her up or arrange to meet her at a safe location and you walk to meet her.
Speak to the head master first then go from there based on the response.0 -
I second the 'bike' suggestion, it's under 3 miles and should be within the capability of most year 9s surely? It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.0 -

Are there any other parents locally who have chosen to send their child(ren) to the Welsh medium school? If so, is there a way that you could ask them for a lift for your child?0

That's where it might be an issue, if it was a temporary thing until things got back to normal it would probably be more reasonable to finish early for a short period of time. It sounds like it's not a popular bus route so they might not actually put it back on so you might need to look at other methods of transport or schools that are closer.0

Not sure on the reason behind not having an option to collect by car, but if it is simply you don't have a car free at that time, could one of you walk to school to meet her and walk her home? Any 6th former live near you that you could pay to escort her home?
Speak to the school, they may have a solution or know of another family in the same situation.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
