I asked my missus to buy a vodafone pay as you go sim card but the woman in the shop have given her the wrong one and it wasn't until I topped it up until I noticed so will I have to buy a different sim card just for calls and texts as the one I have is a pay as you go £10 30 day bundle.

As far as I know you don't buy SIM cards, they give them away. Sorry I'm not familiar with Vodafone but with others you have to be very specific and go for the most basic PAYG tariff. As you've found they love bundles as they make more money from them.

Edit: It looks like you need their "Standard Pay As You Go plan".

Perhaps you can opt out of the 'bundles' setup and resume normal PAYG. A free SIM is usually available on a network's website, which can then be topped up normally.

Most networks still offer regular PAYG, but it's often hard to find that choice as the more costly 'bundles' way of using it is strongly pushed these days.

Vodafone PAYG is probably one of the most expensive, whether using regular top-up and tariff or the bundle deals, so it's likely that most here are unfamiliar with using it.

I've ordered some free sims in the past and they take forever to come so I thought it would be quicker to buy one but shops are only doing the sims with bundle deals.  I need a pay as you go mobile provider that works on a 2g phone.

Asda & Tesco do,, either get SIM on line or walk into shop
As said, you do need to hunt for basic PAYG

The sims are often sold with a bundle to encourage you to keep renewing. If you create an online account with Vodafone, I'm pretty sure the bundles don't auto-renew every month so after the current one expires, you'll navk on 'normal' pay as you go - this suggests so anyway - 'Please note: Once you've opted in to your Pay as you go Bundle, you'll pay our standard Pay as you go rates if it expires and you don't renew, or if you opt out of your bundle early.'

I went on vodafone live chat to ask about changing from the bundle to pay as you go and I was told they will put in a request to have it changed to pay as you go 1 but it wouldn't change over until my allowances runs out. I could have had it changed over sooner but I would lose all my credit.
