Sky BB & Ring doorbell

Not had too much trouble up to now but we’ve just installed a Ring video doorbell and it’s either slow connecting or fails to connect. Most of our devices that use BB are within the house but by definition the doorbell is outside so I’m guessing that’s the problem. There are 4 doors between the doorbell and the router. There is also a cordless phone near the router, not really possible to move either. I ran a check with Bandwidth and the results were Download- 13.23 mbps, Upload 0.92 mbps, Ping 31ms. The Ring device health check tells me that signal strength is RSSI-74 which I’m guessing is not good. However when I ran a check through Sky, the reading says Internet speed 20 mb/s ( download 11-17, upload 1mb/s.
Why the difference and what can I do about it?

Does the Ring device work better if you move it closer to the router?
Given its small size, the issue could also be due to the weak signal emitted from the Ring device simply not being picked up (heard) by the router. Remember wifi is 2 way communications. Having to pass through 4 doors/walls is also asking a lot of wifi !
If you cannot move the router and/or do not wish to lay ethernet cable through the house, you could try a cheap £15 range extender, placing it midway. The trade off is any other wifi devices connecting to the extender may end up with half the usual internet speed in some circumstances. Range extenders don't always works well imho.

Otherwise, better option is consider powerline wireless access point such as TPlink TL-WPA4220kit. About £40 from Argos or Amazon. Put simply it uses the AC ring mains to carry the 'internet signal'.

(tip: Amazon has a much better returns policy than Argos btw...)
Or investigate improving wifi around entire house by using Mesh wifi solutions. These can cost between £70 and £300 though.

How far away is the doorbell from the router? Ours is in the next room and can be patchy. Also what’s your broadband speed (at the location of the doorbell) if it’s below 2mbps it won’t work. If that’s the case then WiFi boosters may be needed.1

That makes sense, the post was slightly confusing, it looked like download was 0.92mbps (at least to me).1
