Don't forget to feed your hedgehog(s) as they have to be around 600g weight to survive hibernation. Maybe you have some suitable bedding too? straw, leaves, hay. Their nest needs to be somewhere dry and not liable to stay soggy.
Hope they / he/ she stays in your garden
They are delightful and a diminishing resource, sadly
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

But please don't feed them bread and milk - They are lactose intolerant, and bread doesn't provide any real nutrition. If you are feeding hedgehogs, wet cat or dog food is best in the absence of live food.
Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
  • Is the ground dry around your hosta?  They do like shade but they don't like to dry out, so if it's under a tree give it a good mulch and hopefully it should come back bigger and better next year!  I have tonnes of them, they're great plants.

I don't know where this 'bread and milk' rubbish came from - talk about dangerous old wives tales!
We feed our hedgies on wet cat food (chicken only, please - not fish!) and dry cat food (again, chicken).  They are being well spoilt at the moment - fussy feline seemed to like a new brand of very expensive chicken sachets, so I tried to save money by buying a big box when it was on special offer.  Next time I offered it to her she looked at me as though she thought I was trying to poison her and stomped off with her tail in the air.  Luckily, the hedgies like it.  They seem to know that Mr S feeds them at 9pm, and a couple or more will be stuffing their faces before he can even get back to the house!
