Wiring help - using A & B terminals

Hi, I have an adsl face place and connected terminals A  and B there and then on the extended socket I have put the corresponding colours on terminals 2 and 5 as I've found answers to this on other sites. Is this correct as it is not working and I'm scratching my head as to why. I am not extending the phone line just the broadband as I don't use a landline. No wire kinks, all tidy just won't work. The A and B terminals on the faceplate are on the consumer side not the by side. There is an extension running from the consumer side bottom plate which comes off first all wired ok too not sure if this helps as I have described it the best I can. Any help please, thanks

What are you putting at the other end of the wires connected to the A and B?

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. It is a filtered faceplate and the a and b wires are connecting directly to an rj45 socket wall mounted with the wires connected to slots 2 and 5 of the same colour as the a and b on the adsl faceplate. I think the numbers might not be right but seen it should be 2 and 5 from other internet forums. Hope this helps describe it a little better.

The plug is an rj11 and the socket fits the rj11

For the incoming wire it's the Orange and white that are the line, connect to A B  in the linebox, for the internal, the Blue with a white stripe goes on 2, the white with a blue stripe goes on 5 (the middle two in the blocks of three).
