Received a parking fine for parking at my own gym's carpark

The franchisee could own/lease several shops in their own name. They pay so much to Golds Gyms and use their brand, marketing and products.
Usually the franchisee would be the owner/leaseholder of the property.
The gym should sort this out as the equipment was not working. It's a question of complaining to the right person.
If they don't and it does end up in court the onus is on the PPC to prove that their equipment was working.

Just a point. If their are others that have had a similar issue you could involve the local paper if the Gym will not cancel the tickets.
This is similar to the issues that happened at a gym in Keighley, North Yorkshire. Not the same PPC but very similar circumstances. One of the defendants was represented by a poster on this forum. If you cannot get the PCN cancelled and the claim escalates it will be worth looking at the Ambler case.

Please now make a real difference.
The Government is (this month only) consulting about a new statutory code of practice (CoP) and framework to rein in the rogue parking firms. Read and comment on the draft CoP proposal and the enforcement framework consultation, and get everyone you know to do the same.
You will need to register to comment on the CoP and enter an occupation even if you are retired or a homemaker, but otherwise it is easy to navigate, and comment upon each section/subsection individually. You can save comments to edit later and or submit comments once you are happy with them.
https://standardsdevelopment.bsigroup.com/projects/2020-00193#/section
You do not need to register to comment on the enforcement framework which can be found here. It has a link on page 5 to make comments.

At the very least, we say the parking charge level should be £50/£25 or higher level £70/£35, as per Council PCNs in E&W.
And we say the added fake 'debt recovery' costs are just double counting the cost of letters, and MUST GO because that is unfair and illegal.
Please be heard. You can bet the hundreds of PPCs will be commenting. No apologies for repeating this vital 'call for action' to consumers, on every thread this month!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Guys, I've finally got the ticket cancelled! I was put through to the manager of operations and got it cancelled for me. I would like to say thank you to all of you that helped me with this!7

Well done and thanks for letting us know.
Please now take the time to comment on the two draft proposals as per C-m's post and links above. This is the only way the excesses of these scammers will ever be curbed.
Personally I would be looking for a new gym that isn't infested by a parking scammer, and letting your current gym know that this whole episode has tainted your feelings and you don't feel safe using their car park any more.

Well done , and yet again plan A works , surprising that more people do not try it , especially when it's the best course of action5

Well done. I think that because of all the upheaval in this company at the moment it was difficult to contact the right person. You persisted and it paid off.
If you do comment on the new Code of Practice you can bring up these issues with terminals. It's a regular issue.

Well done on being persistent.4
