Definitely a NSD even if you haven't got any money😂. My eldest grandson is three now and has meltdowns over the smallest things, I suppose in his little world everything is mega important, I do have to try not to laugh though because even though he is really angry it's quite comical to watch 😀
LO insists on doing their pretend cry routine and I have often joined her and as soon as I do, she either tells me to shut up or walks away to watch Ben and Holly 😂 It's never a dull moment believe me.

Looks like I'll be having no spend days until Thursday payday 🙄 let's hope nothing happens between now and then!

    Hi.

It's a tiring day today. I didn't have a good night's sleep whatsoever. I had both my windows and my bedroom door open to let in some air and I was absolutely sweating from the heat. I was tossing and turning non stop basically until my alarm went off at 4.45 am. Its safe to say I wasn't a happy camper this morning. I just about made it into work as well as I kept thinking of excuses to not go into work but in the end, money and a full wage was my winning answer, 😂

I left my OH a bunch of task to do this morning as its his day off work and shockenly he had texted me to say it was all done by 9.30am. It was two things that I wouldn't of classed as time consuming but my OH has a habit of waiting an hour before I'm due to finish work to start task, including a washing and would often tell me "it was raining" so he couldn't hang the clothes on the line. It's basically him telling me the clothes are still wet on the line because he only remembered to do it as soon as I said I am on the way home. OH texted to say the clothes are washed and on the line, he's given the bedroom and quick do over and washed and dried the dishes. Absolutely thrilled with that. Usually when OH has a day off, I'm still left running around so the chat with him last night obviously put some sense into him. I won't lie, it's a nice feeling. Often OH would see his day off as literally doing nothing but go to the gym, eat and play Xbox while my days off still starts early and there's washing and cleaning and shopping and so forth, he genuinely believes these things are just magically done. I wish!

OH has also picked up LO from their mammies early this morning and has plans to bring them to a play center for an hour or so (he said she has a slight cold but will see how she is) I'm jealous I won't be there to play and have fun but LO loves their daddy time on their own so I leave them to it to have their day together. When I get home, I'll play with LO and possibly give them some chocolate buttons as treat. Tuesdays are LO and daddies day together and unless I have a day off (which is very rare that I have a Tuesday off work) I try not to interfere and let them have their couple of hours together as I know my OH desperately misses LO when they are not around and I miss them too! My time with LO is spent with her daddy when they stay over for the weekend so we can go to play centers or the playground. OH said although they has a small sniffle they seem to be in good from and no signs of a small terrible 2 tantrum so fingers cross they aren't saved for when I get home 😂

My plans for when I get home is to play with LO, have a shower and make my lunch for tomorrow and have my dinner. As OH is off work today, he can make his own meals for tomorrow and it takes the cooking off my back a little bit for one day. I'm sure there will be a quick clean around that needs to be done when I get in but I don't mind. I am hoping the weather isn't rubbish and myself, OH and LO can go for a walk around the block for some air. I might just to that before I do anything else.

Another no spends day which I really shouldn't be proud of as I don't even have 1cent so realistically I have no money to spend but I haven't felt the need to touch my "Rainy day" account either so I'm happy with that 😊

    Happy Tuesday X

It wasn't too bad of a day today.

I did feel the affect of a no spend day due to no money today which has been really strange. Few of the girls in work wanted to go out somewhere for their lunches and luckily I had the excuse that I had already made my lunch and I didn't want it to go to waste so I told them to go ahead without me. It wasn't a negative effect as I was quiet happy to eat my lunch in the canteen on my own. The peace and quiet after a rushing morning was actually nice. Mind you, I was exhausted after my lunch as it was another early start this morning and I normally find Wednesday and Thursdays are tougher but apart from from being busy, having my own lunch and not having the option to go out for lunch, it honestly wasn't a bad day. Its nice knowing I'm budgeting my money and learning how to say no to things I don't really need. It turns out they went to get Chinese food. I was glad I didnt as my hour lunch is at 11am....thats way to early for me to eat Chinese food.

OH is working late this evening so it was my turn to cook his meals for tomorrow. I desperately needed a nap when I returned home from work so I took an hour nap and got straight into cooking and having a shower to settle for the evening. My shoulder is giving me a bit of a bother but I think that's more so from work so I'll take it easy tomorrow if it's not too busy.

I checked my payslip that I get online and done my weekly budget of savings and what I can spend for the week. My money will go into my bank account tomorrow so I can sort that out. I've no major out goings so it's nice to know that this week I don't have to worry about having no money left. Its my OHs turn to buy the take away this week as we get take aways once a week as a treat and take turns. There was a time I was paying for it constantly and I felt I was leaving myself broke or I was limiting to what I could get and not enjoy my treat as I kept worrying about how long I could stretch out my money. We tried to transfer our share to each other each week but it was proven confusing as we were giving up trying to calculate who owes what so we take turns and it works out better for us both. We can take it easy one week or have a full blown fest, depending on what we get but we know on the weeks either of us don't pay, that's our money to do whatever we want too. Usually I put that money towards food shopping, I might even get a couple of extra hygine products and stock up so I don't have to worry about them when I'm doing the next weekly shop.

I've made a dinner and lunch plan for next week.

I've set up a fitness video playlist on YouTube. I plan to do a 20-30 mins workout or a yoga each day. I'm going to start tomorrow after work. I am finding life is a tad bit routiny and boring at the minute as I'm just going to work and going home after. I'm not doing anything relaxing to simulate my mind and relax me especially as I've plenty of time in the evenings. The nap I had after work helped as I've a relaxing energy and I don't feel as drained but I don't want to do that everyday as I'll fall into the trap of sitting on my bum all the time.

I spent an hour talking to my Mam on the phone which was lovely. I would usually text her everyday but these days I've been slacking on the texting and by the time I get around to chatting to anyone, it's either to late in the night or I've to do something else in the house and I've forgotten so it was nice to hear my Mams voice and have a good chinwag, especially when I've made a cup of tea and I can sit down and chat away.

I've set my laundry basket to be put into the wash tomorrow morning. I have informed my FIL to hang clothes out if weather sees fit. It'll be nice to come home to washed and dried clothes. But the clothes horse will do if weather is rubbish.

I've also looked into getting washing powders instead of tablets in Lidl as I found a box of 20 tablets for €3.45 doesn't last me as much as a 20kg box of powder that I can buy for €7.20. While on lockdown I found the powder so much handier as I didn't have to worry about running low on clothes washing or having to worry about how many loads I could do. With the tablets, I am finding the whole pack of 20 tablets will last me a week as I use 2-3 tablets and I do the washing either every day, or every second day, depending on if my OH needs his gym clothes washed or if my uniform needs to be washed, also with the LO, my partner likes to wash and dry LOs clothes and send them back to their mammies house if they are dirty (which is always the case with 2 year old who love to wear their food!) so of course that's adding 3 peoples clothes to be washed. I always want to be on top of the clothes wash and if the basket overfills, I feel like I'm losing the run of myself and then I'm playing catch up. It causes me anxiety at the best of times.

I wrote my shopping list for Fridays weekly shopping and it looks like I'll be in budget and have plenty left over and if seeing fit, by next payday, whichever I have left, I can put into my Rainy day funds. I love when things go according to plan, but as such life is, I'll never know what tomorrow brings so I try to live life on the day I'm in and focus on the future (that's more directed at loans and deposit which is important to focus on) if it sees fit.

    Hope all is well X
  • Hi.

It was mental this morning in work. As usual, I'm on the early shift, 6am and I'm met with so much workload that it takes me 3 hours to finish off and it all had to be completed by 9am which I managed to hit just 5 past 9 which I was happy about. My manager was pleased that I managed to compete the workload and I had an extra pair of hands to help me so that made it a lot easier. Safe to say by my 11am lunch hour, I was fit for a cuppa and to put my feet up for an hour. I'm not going to lie, the tiredness kicked in just as I sat down. The rest of my day in work was handy enough.

I decided to do my food shopping after work today instead of tomorrow which I normally do my shopping on Fridays as myself and OH are planning on making a fake take away instead of buying a take away so I wanted to just go straight home and do the cleaning and change the bed sheets before he came home so we can go to the shops and buy the stuff we need to make a home made take away, if you will. I'm really looking forward to it as it'll be fun to cook together. It'll be a nice change to do something together that we enjoy and have our little chats.

I spent €56.88 in total in my shopping which I was delighted with....

€25.91 in Lidl (I bought the makings of dinner that I'm going to freeze for next week, I bought the makings of lunch which I'm also going to freeze, shower gel and washing tablets which was reduced and it was my usual tablets that I buy so I bought two boxes that should last me more than a week)

€11 in Iceland (myself and OH take turns in buying the 24 pack of Coke Zero that we get in Iceland as its the best deal we get and it last us the month, sometimes more, which we love to drink when we treat ourselves to a take away once a week. This week it was my turn. It's out little guilty pleasures, especially in the evenings if we are in bed watching a show. A cold can of Coke Zero)

€6 in Dealz (I had to buy some microwaveable lunch boxes to store my frozen dinners and lunches into as OH keeps robbing the boxes for his lunches and leaving them in work which then leaves me with nothing to store my food in. I have him warned! I bought Zedlora which I love using when I'm mopping the floors and two bottles of oil as myself and OH vape. We quit smoking 2 years ago. We don't drink so I suppose that's our vises)

€13.57 in Vision Direct (For my contact lenses. Before Covid hit, I hardly ever wore contact and now it's mandatory to wear a mask in work, my glasses kept steaming up and I was getting frustrated so I buy a month's supply but often lastest me more than a month as I don't wear contacts during the weekend so it saves me a little bit)

This is a huge improvement in budgeting as I used to spend between €30-40 in Lidl and then whatever I needed in other shops which would sometimes cost more. I find when I write a list and stick to it to the dot, I don't spend any more than I expect too. I even found if I was spending more than I wanted too, I put things back that I don't necessarily need. Thank god I'm not a huge spender and buy things unnecessarily. I learned my lessons years ago!

I came home and cooked OH his meals, my lunch for tomorrow, took the clothes off the line that my FIL put outside for me (that I kindly asked him too), had my dinner, had a shower and now I'm showered and relaxed and ready and waiting for Friday to come so I can look forward to not setting an alarm for the next morning!

My shopping was done after I took money out for rent and put money into savings account. I still still have €77 to last me until payday next Thursday which I say will last me as I've bought all I needed (which reminds me I've to buy my prescription tomorrow from the pharmacy which will be €10) and saved all I needed. It's nice to have the option of knowing I still have a few bob in my account if something arises.

This weekend will be fairly busy but I'm hoping to have no spend days! I've a couple of things planned which means I have to do my meal prep on Saturday morning to keep the rest of the weekend free

    Happy Thursday X

I've switched to laundry powder with fabric softener and it's just as effective and more cost efficient. I would deffo recommend switching or its gonna save money. I round with the tablets my clothes didn't necessarily wash as well as I would like and bits got stuck to clothes.

Have you sat down with your other half and gone through his own budget with him? I'm sure there is ways he could cut back on spending.

I can’t really help / add anything of use just wanted to say good luck! You’ll get there and there’s no better feeling than having your own home. 🙂

Oh yeah I've sat down with him and discuss what he can do to help himself which he does occasionally then decides he needs a treat and saves again. I can't make him save but I've told him that if I've reached my deposit amount sooner than the desnigated time we picked and he hasn't bothered then I won't be scrimping and saving for another year or so just so he can catch up so there are his options, it's up to himself to decided how fast or slow he wants to save but I'll be continuing what I'm doing for the time being and I'll cross the bridge when the time comes.

Maybe he needs to put it away in an account he can't easily access. Also maybe given himself a spending allowance and once it's gone that's it. I found by loosening the strings slightly on myself I keep to budget much better rather than just saying sod it.

We both have the same bank account so there's options of saving accounts on them. Personal and Deposit. I choose 3 personal accounts that I can watch my savings build up and take out if I wanted too. I choose not too.

Oh half has savings accounts in his bank, two. One for the house and one as a personal take out whatever he needs when he needs but he fails to stick with both accounts as he just sees money. He'll do really well for a few months then get annoyed because its not where he wants it to be then leaves saving and goes back again.

Wheras I'm conistant and I know what I've to do. I would say he would be more laid back than I would be in terms of saving, budgeting etc.
  • What a day! Work was non stop from 6am until around 2pm.

I ended up cancelling my phone contract that would of costed me €12.99 a month compared to the pre paid €20 (that I really had an option to get any time of the month). I taught I was getting my monies worth by paying €12.99 but reality was, the sim I recieved wasn't suitable to the current phone that I have now and it would of costed me €73 in order to unlock my phone and turn it into a sim free phone, just to use the new network. The hassel wasn't worth it. So I had 10 days left of my 14 day cooling period so I contacted the phone company and cancelled the contract (the hassel of that is another story!) Seeing as I had ported my current mobile number to the new sim, I was left with no reception for 2 days. Now that I've cancelled two networks (out of pure stupidity) I have no network and using WiFi anywhere I go. Honestly it hasn't been too bad. I can use WhatsApp if I want to make a call but it really isn't suitable in the long run so tomorrow, I've to go to a Vodafone shop and purchase a new sim which will be €20 for the pre paid contract that I want and it'll be a new number but sure look, that's what I get for trying to he frugal haha!

I finished work at 2.30 and got home at 3, from 3 until 5 I was on the phone trying to cancel one contract and go back to another. Safe to say, my head is well and truly fried and its my own doing. Oh well.

Nothing lost, nothing gained so honestly I'm not too pushed about having no phone network at the minute. But I definitely have to go to the phone shop and sort out a new pre paid plan as having no phone network will only last so long.

OH is home from work so we are going to go to Lidl and pick up the goods for our home made take away. Its his turn to pay so I still have €77 in my bank account 😊 (Actually its €65.25 as I paid €9.38 for a prescription I had to buy).

This weekend is a busy one. Food prepping. Cleaning. Visiting my grandparents and LO is staying over on Saturday evening until Sunday evening so we'll be busy with them. I want to get as much as I can done Saturday morning so come Sunday I don't have to worry too much about catching up on anything and enjoy the time I have with LO and my OH.

I'm glad it's Friday though because I know I can look forward to not setting an alarm and have somewhat of a lie on in the morning.
