Will my phone connections be withdrawn?

My partner and I are stuck abroad and have not yet got back to UK. We are still having UK number but not using at all due to extremely high international roaming charges.
We are paying the bills for the post paid ones and we have balance in prepaid ones.
Will our numbers get disconnected or SIM cards get blocked if we do not make or receive any calls for certain period (3 months or 6 months) ?
We are still receiving the text messages on all the numbers so far and we are able to dial those numbers and get the ring.
Thanks for any help.

I think providers vary, but my understanding is you need to initiate the chargeable 'event' - ie a call or text that you make from the sim

On pay as you go it would be a good idea to send a text at least every three months to keep the number alive.

    ID - Contract
    3 - PAYG
  • Sent a text message on both as the text msgs are the cheapest. But, would like to know how long I can keep it unused so that I can keep a reminder.

A mobile contract will continue, as long as the monthly charges are paid, even if you never use it.

Your PAYG needs a chargeable event within a certain period to avoid the disconnection of its number. In the case of Three I think it's 180 days but you should check in the terms for your particular tariff:

Several years ago,we had a Three PAYG sim that DD1 was given when she upgraded 'to put in your old phone so someone can use it'
Both DD's had Three contracts which included 'free' Three to Three calls, so whenever they phoned, they called this number - we never put any credit on this phone and we kept it for 2 (?) years till life moved on and DD's had different contracts.
We assumed that receiving a call counted as a 'chargeable event'

Vodafone (business) have put an extension on all barring. So I would imagine your provider may have something similar in progress.
