New hard search by Hastings on my credit report

I've also had this issue, I've already logged this with Equifax via ClearScore's website. I also called Hastings this morning. The lady there told me that they were aware of this issue and would be taking steps to remediate the issue. I pushed and logged a complaint.
Hope that might be useful information for some.1 -
Only registered to say the same thing as you lot with the Hard search. I have just received a response from Hastings as below:
Sorry, we made a mistake
I’m sorry you’re unhappy about the credit checks we ran against your name. I understand it can be worrying to be told there’s been a search on your credit file and I’d like to assure you we’re taking this matter very seriously.
What happened
On 4th of September 2020, Equifax let us know that hard credit checks had been completed on some customers, when they should have been soft checks. Equifax is one of the four Credit Reference Agencies operating in the UK that collects information about the public for credit scores.
I'd like to reassure you the search wasn't conducted fraudulently or without authorisation. When you use a price comparison website, they run what’s known as a 'soft search' on your credit record, which can’t be seen by any other companies and won't affect your credit score. Unfortunately, on this occasion the search was saved as a ‘hard check’. Hard checks can show on your credit report and can affect your overall credit score, so we understand how concerned you are.
Your credit score won’t be affected
We’ve fixed our systems to stop any more incorrect searches happening again.
We’ve also been in touch with Equifax to update your credit file so your credit score won’t be affected by this in any way. It could take up to 30 days for you to see the hard check removed from your account, but please be assured it’s been deleted and no other companies or banks will be able to see it.

Got email from clear score saying search will be removed. I hadn’t yet contacted clear score so this has been done automatically for me, hopefully will be the same for everyone else

I have just seen on the clearscore website that they are aware of the issue and any hard searches made by Hastings Direct will be removed within 4-6 weeks.First Time Buyer
