New hard search by Hastings on my credit report

I've just been notified by clearscore that a new hard search will be added to my report next month.

The note specifically says:
"A new Hard search by HASTINGS INSURANCE SERVICES LTD will be added to your September report."
It is dated 3rd of September 2020 but I did nothing of the sort.

This is bizarre, I had insurance with them a good few years ago but I haven't owned a car now for about 2.5 years.
What am I supposed to do here?

Same thing for me this morning - notified by Clearscore about a Hastings hardsearch.  Like you I had car insurance with them a couple of years ago but nothing since.  I haven't used any comparison site recently but my car insurance does renew in the next 5 weeks.

I'm in exactly the same boat. Hard search from Hastings on clearscore, 03/09. haven't applied for insurance lately. If anyone has found out what's what it'd be nice to find out whats happened

This has also happened to me. I dont check my emails everyday but when checked I noticed a hard search was added against my name according to clearscore. 
I had car insurance with them in 2017 but nothing since. Car insurance is due at end if the month though.
It states the search date was 2nd September 2020 with HASTINGS INSURANCE SERVICES LTD.
Unable to ring them as it was after 2pm on a Saturday before I noticed. Going to ring tomorrow (Sunday) to check whats going on. 
I'm even unable to access my old account with Hastings despite trying multiple times on different devices

Ive never applied for insurance or done a search and it shows up in my upcoming report as well as a hard search! Im guessing we can raise this as a dispute.

I have also had a hard search from Hastings Insurance Services LTD... I have never had insurance with this company nor have I searched for any type of insurance over the last 9 months... Everywhere I've searched about car insurance says "it's a soft search and will not effect your score" however this specifically says it's a hard search, it also says "the company doing the search needs your permission to do such search" 
I will call today after 10am but I'm at a complete loss as to how this has happened.

This has happened to me too. Notification by clear score this morning. My car insurance is with another company but is due for renewal at the beginning of October. I'm applying for a mortgage soon. Will this change things?

Happened to me too, new hard search on the 4th. My car insurance is up for renewal but I wasn’t with Hastings. Think I had a policy with them in 2013.
