M&S 0% Purchases CC

Have just found out today that the M&S 0% purchases credit card as recommended on the MSE best buys comes with a 6 month credit limit freeze. So whatever you end up with, you’re stuck with! Not ideal if you want to use it for everyday spending through the life of the 0% offer.

    OK?
Although you shouldn’t mix a 0% Card with normal spending.

Yes, agree with D3xt3r5L4b, balance transfer cards should be used purely for that, so you can then hunker down and pay off the whole balance within the time allocated.

That's what Martin always advises, too. Otherwise, you'll just end up with a card full of money to pay back and big interest rates.

  • Could have sworn the OP wrote purchases, not transfers.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

Though the same advice on not mixing still applies

Eh? How can you "not mix" purchases and purchases?

What should you use it for?

Mixing 0% promo purchases with everyday purchases you intend to pay off each month
  • With a promotional spending card you don't need to pay anything off other than the minimum payment (of course you can if you want to).
It is Balance transfer cards that should not be mixed with ordinary spending.

Mixing 0% promo purchases with everyday purchases you intend to pay off each month
I don't see any distinction between the two. A purchase is a purchase, and they all attract 0% interest for the introductory period on a 0% purchases card. How much you choose to pay off each month is neither here nor there (provided it's at least the minimum, of course).

Neither do I, I've used 0% purchase cards a few times over the years (last one being Virgin 27 months 0% on purchases) sometimes I paid the minimum statement balance, sometimes more, then just stopped spending on it, set up a fixed monthly payment (amount owed divided by months left till expiry of promotion, think I did it over 6) hey presto paid nothing in interest.

Nothing mixed up there, some people get confused with the 'advice' they give lol.
