Do I have to have a BT phone

Options
We are currently on a BT package due to end this month with Phone, Calls package, Broadband and multiroom costing £62 per month.

New to all this switching so wondered if its possible to get rid of the phone line and keep the rest.

Also any thought of who might be doing a decent offer for Broad band and simple TV package....

Many thanks

Don't worry about the phone line element, just look at the total price of teh service. In many/most cases the technology means you have to have  a "phone" line for the broadband to work over, although if you have access to Virgin Media or one of the smaller full fibre providers, you can get internet access without a phone line.

You need a phone line for the broadband to get to your property (if using Openreach infrastructure).  You don't actually need a phone attached to it. or a phone calls package if you don't use it for voice calls.

Also, the price difference between line and broadband or broadband only from providers that offer that choice  is minimal , hopefully you aren’t naive enough to think if line and broadband is £25 , and if a provider says the ‘line’ is £20 then broadband must only be £5, it doesn’t work that way.

Depends what you want from your tb package - Plusnet have a TB option on their broadband, or also have a look at Sky 'essentials'

Unless you've got fibre to the premises (FTTP) then you'll need a land line connection for the broadband - it cost just about the same to install and maintain the pair of wire from your house whether it's carrying phone calls or broadband so even if you dont make phone calls you still need the connection and the cost of it will get rolled up into your package even if it's not specifically called line rental.
The alternative is to try and get a wifi/4G router with a sim card and sign up with one of the mobile phone providers. However, you are then subject to the vagaries of a wireless connection and network congestion and possibly a data limit.
