These decisions are made at forum team level, and unfortunatly, due to data protection, the reasons why such action has been taken is not up for public or private discussion.

Suffice to say a breach of the rules must have occured in order for this to happen, the length of the ban is unknown, as is the reason for it, unfortunatly I cannot tell you more than that.

I absolutely agree that I find it hard to think of a reason for banning. Any posts I had read from Maman have always been very well balanced and supportive too. Does banning mean someone is permanently banned or is it a time limited event?

Thank you all so much for your support. I wasn't able to read messages until I was reinstated tonight after a 2 week ban. 
I won't go into detail but, briefly, mse seemed to put a blanket ban on posters on a particular thread. I've never been in this position before so don't know if this is a new thing. There is no appeal system AFAIK or any consideration of previous 'good behaviour'. 

Yes, I could come back before with a new email address but that didn't feel right. 

It's left a nasty taste about MSE. Customer service has really gone down hill IMO since the new site and this seems like more of the same. I'll say no more on the subject as I don't want to be banned again for not being 'nice'. 

I'll post again on my favourite threads but just wanted to say thanks to my virtual friends. 😍
