I've been on MSE for quite a few years, and was really shocked to read that @maman has been banned. 

To ban a well respected, level headed, helpful, kind & all-round nice person who has notched up almost 130,000 thanks, whilst still allowing others to continue to cause upset & hurt by their sharp words is a farce. I cannot and will not believe that @maman has posted anything that would even warrant a warning, and certainly not to be banned!

Whoever is running the forum nowadays might perhaps like to comment and explain their actions?

I can't think what could have happened to have Maman banned! It seems bizarre to say the least.

Another vote in favour of maman, she has always been kind and supportive, never dictatorial, but ready to gently offer advice or another way at viewing a situation.
Please mods sort this out as soon as possible.

Playing Devil's advocate, there must have been a breach of the forum rules by Maman, inadvertent or not, the forums don't ban people willy nilly. Maman can always re-register in another name too if they wished to come back.

Barny, thanks for playing Devil's advocate, but I think you're wrong about people coming back under another name - we had an example last month on our own Cutting Down Alcohol thread and the person promptly got banned a second time - I don't think the forum admins would miss something like that. Also, several people on here have noted that there was probably a breach of the rules, but the point is that maman has been a helpful and well regarded member of MSE for over a decade now and has offered unfailing support here, and is a much valued person, and I think people feel that her value to MSE greatly outweighs any breach she may have committed (in our eyes) and that we'd dearly like to see her reinstated. Also, I hope if you fell into similar difficulties that we'd do our best for you as well!

Completely agree with you cathybird - whatever the breach of rules was, I can’t imagine it would be anything so bad that it would outweigh all the helpful and understanding posts that maman has contributed over the years.

Also, just adding to what I've already said, you'd hope an inadvertent breach of the rules, if that's what it was, might just lead to a warning of some kind. I hope maman can read this thread. Maman, we miss you! xx

@cathybird maman should still be able to read messages even though she isn't able to post.  Apparently Banned is only from posting.

I still can't see any reason why she would have been banned as she was so non-judgemental, friendly and gave lots of good advice.
