Do utilities, broadband, electric and the like, have to inform you when you are out or going out of contract?
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

You don't go out of contract, you end the minimum term and go onto a rolling monthly contract. Your ISP should be sending you some correspondence as you approach the end of your minimum term telling you what happens if you do nothing and maybe offering you a renewal deal. I think gas/electric providers will contact you stating what happens to the price you pay after the year is up.It is always worth knowing when the minimum terms etc finish for all your contracts so you are not surprised and have plenty of time to research what is the best deal for you going forward whether your current providers inform you or not.1

Wongataa, thanks that is helpful.
One question, do they legally have to contact you at the end of a contract?I choose the rooms that I live in with care,

If they cancel your contract, then they would obviously contact you to tell you.
If you cancel it, you would expect confirmation of that cancellation. It's not legally required, but all just about all suppliers would do it.
