Disagree with Ombudsman's decision on BT complaint

Options
BT added a chargeable service to my landline account that I didn't ask for. Upon my complaint, BT investigated and concluded that it was due to a human error. To me, it seemed to be a fraudulent attempt to take my money without my consent, i.e. why would someone suddenly and conveniently mess around with my account by adding a chargeable service?

Although BT eventually removed that service and offered me a gesture of free one-month bill credit, I thought it was insufficient and I insisted to terminate my contract without termination fee. BT obviously disagreed, so I took the matter to Ombudsman. Ombudsman's decision agreed with BT that it was a human error and only awarded an apology letter from BT. I appealed Ombudsman's decision but they reinstated their final decision. At this stage, BT withdrew the one-month bill credit gesture.

I'm wondering what my options are at this stage? What happens if I decline Ombudsman's final decision? Ultimately I'd like to terminate the contract with BT because I do not trust this organisation anymore. There were some other disappointments in the past, but this one is a breaking point that I can't take anymore.

So what (how much) do you want for a mistake that has now been rectified

I'm not looking for a financial compensation. As mentioned in my post I just want to leave them because of the accumulated frustrations.
It's too convenient (for BT) to make a random mistake with an intention to take my money, then tap on my shoulder with an apology and brush everything under the carpet.

If you can't accept that mistakes happen, you can leave at any time, but will need to pay any applicable early termination charges.

It seems like an awful lot of effort for little gain.
It would have been far easier to accept the month free and to see out your contract.
You could have then moved to a different provider and left truthful feedback wherever you could.

  • BT have refunded you and apologized for their mistake. Perhaps its time to accept that everyone (including you) makes mistakes, its a simple fact of life. Stop being so bitter and move on.

Thanks to all feedback. If you were not BT employees, I would assume these were valid constructive feedbacks. I’ll reflect on them.
I didn’t wish to become a millionaire through the entitled compensations. I’m not seeking advice how much I should ask BT for compensations. BT broke my trust repeatedly, and I just had it enough. All I wanted was just to stay away from this organisation and will never look back.
But seems like I have no other choice but put up with this organisation till the end of the contract.

I am not a BT employee - never have been and never will be (pretty sure the posters arent either)
BUT, I agree with all of the above
You were offered compensation in the form of one free month
What are your quantifiable losses in all this ?
How much do you want ?

Sorry - my previous post update didn’t go through, so I’ll repeat here.

My original post was to see whether there are any ways that I could press harder to terminate the contract without termination fee. That’s all I need really.

    Bingo! Pens down, everyone.

Who had post 7 for "you must work for the company"?

If you had a complaint and it was dealt with by BT to the Ombudsman's' satisfaction - there is little further you can do other than request (but not expect) BT to release you from the contract early - remember, you are more likely to succeed with sugar and honey
