RHE’s 112,000 customers will move to British Gas on the 16th September following a buy out. All RHE staff were apparently made redundant this afternoon. Council loans (c.£24M) written off. Formal announcement tomorrow.

From the DT:Chris O’Shea, Centrica chief executive, said the deal was a "value-generating" opportunity. "We are delighted to welcome Robin Hood customers to British Gas. We are pleased to be able to offer every customer moving to British Gas a tariff which means their price will not be any higher and, importantly, they will be supplied with green electricity and have access to a range of other benefits.”0

I wonder how this affects RHE partnerships such as White Rose Energy.1

Certainly no one could argue against them being a not for profit supplier.

The problem was their operating model. The idea to provide cheap energy to local residents irrespective of income etc. So like if you have a poor credit rating. Means lots of unpaid bills that not chased, etc.
So long as BGas honour the fixed tariff then should be fine. I was with BG when they had the cheap deal on here a few years ago, had no problem switching to/from.0 -

We had a cottage near Porthmadog on the N Welsh coast that was supplied by them!

Bristol energy had the same plan. If you had a BS postcode it was cheaper. BE never got the penetration in Bristol they expected and had to go to a more national focus. Hence why they too are trying to sell their customers to another supplier.
As this is not a supplier of last resort situation I'd like to know how RHE's customers contracts are being treated. From the Centrica quote above it doesn't sound like a contract transfer to me, but some sort of replacement contract. I await the full details with interest.
