Vodafone PAYG top up changed?

I am with Vodafone on PAYG and recently have noticed that the way that I top up has changed and it has become very annoying so I just wondered if this is a new thing they are doing?
So for the last couple of months, when I call the number to top up it asks me to verify my mobile number first - this never happened before.  But ok, no big deal.
This time however, I had to speak all of the options - so rather than pressing option 1 for top up with a voucher, I had to say "voucher" etc.  When I finally got to the stage of entering the code, I had to say this rather than just entering the number.  It didn't recognise it and after the third attempt I was given the option to type the number in instead.
This is hugely annoying because it takes forever to top up.
Is this happening to everyone else, or is it a new thing that is being introduced?
My OH is on the same plan as me with them but he doesn't have to do any of this - not confirm his mobile number, voice activation, nothing.......which seems strange.
