Unfortunately there are no exceptions to the rule on submitting the 2018/19 tax return by 23 April 2020 to qualify for SEISS. One of the other conditions for the grant is that you intend to continue to trade in 2020/21, and if you are still capable of trading, you would be regarded as capable of employing an accountant to do your tax return in time.

  • I run a small limited company, (just me in fact) which is classed as a micro entity, I submit a return to companies house each year, a copy of which goes to HRMC. Because my business is in the leisure sector I lost all bookings when lock down happened. I went through it all at the time but found I qualified for zero government assistance, apart from a gov backed loan, since I already have business loan and and an overdraft this wasn't really an option. did I miss something? every other small businesses claimed grants etc. the local hairdresser got enough assistance to redecorate, buy new equipment etc, the cafe owners going on about how hard its been but they've had gov subsidies these past weeks,  try surviving on nothing mate! sorry if this sounds like sour grapes but I am annoyed. anyone else in a similar situation? and how did you resolve it if at all?

Probably better as a separate thread.
You could have furloughed yourself?  Too late now if you did not.
Did you qualify for any of the premises related grants?
    Tax payment deferrals.
    Mortgage / loan payment holidays
Bounce Back loan, but you say you do not wish to apply for that.
Lock down was end of March - how come you only just realised all your work stopped?
  • As I said I went through it at the time, came up with nothing, didnt know furloughing yourself was an option, it wasn't  made obvious, anyway, like you say, too late now, story of my life.
