Hi there,
So first of all we moved out on the 22nd August. It wasnt myself who was in charge of the electricity bill but a house mate. He obviously didnt pay much attention to his monthly statements as he was as shocked as I was to hear we owed over £1500. We were paying £64 a month in credit between the three of us. The apartment was a ground floor well insulated building. We did not have a tumble dryer, barely used the heating and were cautious with leaving lights on etc.
Our first reading since switching to Eon: Nov 7, 98881
Last reading: Aug 22, 13771
Total kw = 13890
At 14.57p per kw
Standing charge 7.2p per day
Please bare in mind this is only 9 months usage also. I believe we had already cleared the first 3 months of bills prior to switching. I shall have to double check with housemate to confirm this though.
Our landlady lived across the hall and I am currently in conversation with her to find out her annual electricity usage.

My housemate has now forwarded me the bills. Can anyone please help? Please let me know of any further information you require or any tests we may do? Surely we cannot have used so much electricity?!
Thanks in advance for any help.

You are 1,000 out on your calculation, that should be 113,771 - 98881 = 14,890...
Yes, it is a very high bill, but all the things you should have done are going to be difficult if not impossible to do now that you have left...
Not sure there is much you can do at this point other than pay it...
Also just in case it is relevant, it doesn't matter who has their name on the bill, all those living there are jointly liable for the debt.
My only thought is do you have a bill from before you switched to EON, just to check that there wasn't a mistake on the opening meter reading with EON

Who took the readings and what sort of meter do you have?  There was a poster recently with a huge bill from misreading the sort of meter with little dials.  Do you have any inbetween readings?
If you don't have one, could your old landlady send you a photo of the meter with the current reading.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Quite hard to misread this I think!

Sorry forgot to include. The readings were taken from the landlady. We were never given access to the meter. The picture above is our final reading given to us on the 22nd August.

We have just found an email which details our original meter reading. This was 97706. Taken on 23rd August 2019.

A pity, but that idea does seem disproved.

What was the heating ? Panel Heaters, water rads but heated by an electric boiler
    How many of you ?

Electric Showers  - easily 50p to £1 each per shower.

Not the best of tariffs to be on - you could have paid 12-13p
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Apologies for the multiple posts but we've just found out our previous supplier was powershop. A quick look on trustpilot has unearthed some undesirable reviews..
Im currently on the phone trying to attain some information on our previous meter readings.

Do you have the move in or November reading as a photo too?  To confirm it is 98881 and not 9888.1.

How long do you spend in the shower?  :)

Works out about 10p  a shower in our household with the electric shower.
