Who I am sure are going to even want to talk to you about a 5 year old pieced of kit NOTdenz1968 said:
It was bought at PC World if I remember correctly - so I need to take my gripe up with themSandtree said:For a start those rights are with the retailer not the manufacturer... did you buy it from Apple or from somewhere else?
Those same rights state that if an issue becomes apparent after 6 months then the retailer is entitled to reduce any refund given for the use already received from the item; so if you've had it 5 years already then you may get offered a 1/6th refund... though the act doesnt state how this should be calculated.
Have you actually taken it into an Apple store with the transcript/email which said it would be covered? They may offer a heavily discounted repair which could be more appealing than a partial refund.0 -

In normal terms I would fully agree with you but I've only had one Apple laptop/desktop that has not lasted 8 years and still been fully servicable.... the exception being a MacBook Air which ultimately was crippled by its tiny amount of non-upgradable RAM.mattyprice4004 said:It's a 5 year old laptop, by any stretch it's either at or near 'end of life' in terms of being up to date.
You won't get anywhere with this I fear, I'd just try and wangle a discount off a replacement.
The issue right now with Apple is their announced migration from Intel to ARM processors... full migration is expected in 2 years and so you probably have a couple of years of decent software support after that but the days are numbered. My iMac died just after its 8th birthday recently and really torn between replacing it now (and its associated external storage) but it becoming obsolete before its hardware dies -v- holding off until the ARM versions are released.0 -
Well, I tried with Apple support one more time - Result. As I had been told various version by their representatives the Senior Technical Advisor has approved the repair.
The macbook is with Stormfront and has gone away for repair. I didnt even have to pay the £50 deposit at the store as it was all Apple pre-approved.
What a result3
