Could someone please explain to me why I never got a letter changing my Halifax Reward account and I am still getting my £2 reward for £1000 deposit and 2 DDs?
What is different about my account?

I take it you haven't actually phoned up to change the account?st999 said:Could someone please explain to me why I never got a letter changing my Halifax Reward account and I am still getting my £2 reward for £1000 deposit and 2 DDs?

If you didn't phone up to tell them that you wanted to keep the account as a Reward account, with the new conditions, then it should automatically have changed to a standard Current Account. I didn't ring up and mine did change, -although it took them a week to change it.
You shouldn't be getting the £2 per month, as that doesn't exist under the new conditions. I would keep quiet about it if I were you. If they notice the error they might take it off you, but if they don't then you're £2 better off.0 -
I never got a letter asking me to change it so why would I have phoned up?ZeroSum said:

Everybody else got a letter and/or an email. Check your spam/junk email folder. If you got neither then your letter was just lost in the post. They certainly haven't singled you out and decided to let you stay on the old Reward conditions, -nobody is that special.st999 said:

The Bank of Scotland ones are still £2 rewards - it is just the Halifax branded ones that have changed. Perhaps you have a Bank of Scotland one?
Note - I am not getting confused with Royal Bank of Scotland which is a separate entity.I have 3 accounts - 2 Halifax (getting £5 reward each) and 1 BOS (getting £2 reward).

Ah! I do have a Bank of Scotland one, so I am special because I live in Scotland. The Bank of Scotland ones are still £2 rewards - it is just the Halifax branded ones that have changed. Perhaps you have a Bank of Scotland one?
Yet that account was a Halifax account that was opened 35 odd years ago and I had my mortgage with it for 25 years.
And there was I thinking I wouldn't need to use 2 credit cards every month just to buy 2 separate pints of milk.

If you have one BoS Reward account and nothing else with HBOS, you have the opportunity to open 2 Halifax Rewards and join the £5 club. Note there are conditions - and they don't involve 2 credit card purchases.0

At my age I am trying to reduce the amount of bank accounts I have, I thought I wouldn't need to transfer money and keep two credit card DDs on the go.colsten said:If you have one BoS Reward account and nothing else with HBOS, you have the opportunity to open 2 Halifax Rewards and join the £5 club. I still might might forego the £2 a month to make life simpler.1 -
Still, you could switch that BoS to a new Halifax Reward for an easy £100.

[Then downgrade to a current account if you don't want a few hoops for £5/month]

Halifax changed all their Scottish branches into Bank of Scotland branches some years ago, and all the existing accounts became Bank of Scotland accounts. About 6 or 7 years ago they reintroduced the Halifax brand into Scotland and opened new branches there, but I think they only have three of them, in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen.st999 said:
