Mine are described that way but also give an indication on the screen which is not available with the dealer fit option and why I included the term "purely".

    Hi everyone,

I ordered a brand new Dacia Sandero in June and was told expected delivery would be September. I commute 75 miles each day (37 miles each way) and my current 18 year old Clio was becoming too unreliable.

I received a registration document last week which had the incorrect price (more expensive) and colour listed. When questioned, they called me to confirm they had accidently ordered the car in black (order was for white) but that they would waive the £550 colour upgrade cost because it was their fault.

I said I was happy to accept the black vehicle and then asked if they had remembered to order the front parking sensors (these were an optional extra - rear sensors are included as standard). They stated they had forgotten to put these on as well (I really don’t know how they got it so wrong!). They advised that they would have them installed prior to my collecting the vehicle in the next couple of weeks.

After the phone call, I emailed to state that whilst I’m happy with a black vehicle, there are some drawbacks (shows dirt / scratches more and also gets hotter than white) so asked if they could offer a couple of free services to make up for this. I also asked them to confirm the front parking sensors being fitted are genuine Dacia parts.

They emailed back today stating that although it’s not my fault, they are making a loss on the car already by offering the colour upgrade for free and that there is nothing more they could offer. Fair enough I guess, I tried. However, they then said:

“Ref to the parking sensors these cannot be fitted as genuine parts unfortunately they would be fitted by a external supplier which would carry their own guarantee.

I have asked them today to confirm how long the guarantee is for and whether it would be possible to give you a guarantee for them for as long as the vehicle.

I responded stating that even if the warranty for the third party is less than Dacias warranty, I expect Dacia to warranty them for 3 years to match the warranty of the rest of the vehicle.

Where do I stand with this? I think it’s disappointing to be buying a brand new car and immediately have it fitted with third party parts but at the same time I can’t reject it and wait another few months for a replacement vehicle. I’ve seen a black version of the car today and rally liked it - so this part isn’t an issue. My Clio also died last week and I’ve had to borrow a vehicle from my workplace which I have use of until the end of September.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

More than a white one -  I disagree, i have a black car and it shows all the marks/scratches/etc in christendon 😏
Is that not what the OP is saying- black shows more dirt and scratches than a whit one?

I would double check if the dealer are not telling porkies about not being able to fit sensors

Simple choice. Take what they are offering or wait for them to get the correct vehicle in. I'm surprised they aren't doing you a deal on the black car seeing as they will have to shift it somehow. Maybe you could ask for three free services and a bunch of flowers or something?
Not sure what I'd do. Probably take the black car given you're in a borrowed motor and it might take months to get the correct vehicle in.

Personally I would reject it. It's not a great deal offering to cover the cost of an option, black paint, that you specifically did not want. I would not buy a black car for all the reasons stated.
I think you have a third option to wait or accept - ask for your deposit back and start again with a more competent dealer.

    Yes, black cars show dirt.

But so do white ones, so it's not like the OP was going for a low-maintenance colour to start with.

Yes, rejection is possible... But that won't make another car appear instantly.

And in the mean time, the OP is car-less.

Not necessarily, but still has the same 'becoming unreliable' car

No, if the correct car is not delivered this month then the OP is car-less:
