this is why all other providers not just TalkTalk require a BT line however this will soon be a thing of the past for customers wishing to join us without a BT line.
Please dont come to this site trying to pull the wool over members eyes.
Their are a number of suppliers other then cable who will supply a line other then BT,and some have been offering to do so for some time.Heres a few examples.

Vodafone at Home.
Telecom Plus.
The problem lies firmly at Talk Talks Door who have been able to offer the service for yonks but choosed to cherry pick from BT,until BT introduced the 12 month contract term.0 -

As I said in my previous post TalkTalk are looking to change this and as a result have been working to implement a new process which will go live in the new year enabling customers to join us who don't have a BT line.
Regards
Yes but you also posted misleading info, which you havent bothered to remove.0 -

What on earth are you going on about? Of course it's down to cost, all it needs is a simple system to liase with Openreach to arrange appointments to install lines. The logistics part on Talk Talks side is either building the system or training the staff (cost involved of course!) and they haven't done that purely because it's easier for them to cherry pick customers from rival telecommunication providers.
Only now when pressure is coming from the regulatory authorities have other providers now 'suddenly decided' to implement a policy that they can install lines for customers.
As shown by the previous post there isn't just one company who can install telephone lines.0 -

It hasn't been so much about the cost in the past but the logistics of arrange this, and so this is why all other providers not just TalkTalk require a BT line ........Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Please don't take members of this forum for fools. Those are LIES and you know it.
Hi Heinz,
Your right other providers are able to provision lines but not all providers. The ability for talktalk to provision lines is an addition to the home mover line provisioning trial which has been undertaken by the Preston home movers team afte proving a success.
Admittadly it has taken a long time to bring the line provisioing process into play and it was only a trial so that bugs (and from what ive seen there where many that needed iorning out). I think youll agree, rather than running into line provisioning with every new talktalk customer it is best to get rid of the bugs and unexpected issues by using a smaller sample of people before going live with new customers.
Its a step in the right direction, trying to get it right first time.0 -
TALKTALK_SUPPORT and TalkTalkBoy in tandem now.
I wonder whether Talk Talk Man (Duntsan) will pop in shortly with more BS?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Ive been offering help on this forum for quite some time now, Ive attempted to assist but it appears not all people appreciate it.
TalkTalk providing an official presence on this board can only be a good thing for its customers. A few other ISPs have done this and it has proven to be very sucessfull.TALKTALK_SUPPORT and TalkTalkBoy in tandem now.

If Mr Online Community Executive wants to assist I would suggest he gets his facts right before trying to hoodwink people on these forums, still it fits in nicely with TalkTalks reputation for mis-information and conning people with little knowledge about phones and broadband.0

Turns out the line is still active anyway because previous owners haven't moved their number yet and obviously my brother can't use it because it isn't his account (BT told them in no uncertain terms that using the current line would be fraud). So they now have to wait for the cancellation period of the current line to elapse which is apparently 11 working days before they can have their own number put on."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

What? ANY Telecommunication provider is able to liase with Openreach to provide lines as shown here
Ofcom put regulations in place that gives other providers access to BT Exchanges now so they can put in their own place. Talk Talk has just the same access as any other provider. Do your homework & check your facts before spouting the above.TalkTalkBoy wrote: »Admittadly it has taken a long time to bring the line provisioing process into play and it was only a trial so that bugs (and from what ive seen there where many that needed iorning out). Thats what any good company does, however its the blatent cherry picking by Talk Talk & the lack of vision that Talk Talk & it's employee's (well documented in this thread for sure) have on this subject. Only now when the regulatory authority has said to these providers to stop palming off their customers to other providers have companies like Talk Talk started to act.
As Heinz said, don't take members of these forums as fools. Irrespective of whether your assistance to members is appreciated or not, what people don't appreciate is representatives of a company trying to pull the wool over their eyes.0
