You can buy a kit for polishing headlamps, Aldi sell one (when they have the special on motoring) and T-Cut sell one that is more expensive.
The kit contains polishing compound (a slightly less runny T-cut than comes in the bottles) a cloth to polish with, and the sealant, which smells feels and behaves exactly like the polymer paintwork sealant that auto-glym sell. (Yes I bought the T-cut one and I think it was overpriced)
Depending on your patience and effort the kits give very good results.

You can however use any abrasive polish, as long as you clean it off afterwards e.g. toothpaste, Jif, metal polish. The sealer gives it the final shine, and supposedly some protection from the deadly cancer giving rays of the Sun.

I keep meaning to make some headlamp covers to protect mine from the Sun, but I'd forget to take them off when I go out in the car.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
  • I have done this several times. You need to use wet n' dry paper moving up through the grits and working in alternate directions. See YouTube videos on how to do it; works well.
