Do all washing machines leak through the front door if loaded incorrectly?

In the three years we have had it so far it has managed to not set itself on fire. I think we trust it by now to leave it alone to do it's job. It doesn't need a chaparone while it is doing it's thing in the kitchen.
I can't think of anything worse than being trapped upstairs while the washing machine is setting fire to everything in the kitchen. Again I would rather not be in the house than be in bed in that case!0
