Hi,

My British Gas (Energy Plus Protection Green Sep 2020v2) contract is coming to an end next month and have used CEC to find the cheapest deal which is (SSE Online Energy v4) but was wondering does the tariff prices change each month, as I'm thinking of whether to switch today or wait to see the prices in September?

How on earth can SSE Online Energy v4 be the cheapest?!!!  They come 55th in the list of dual fuel deals for my address/consumption.  And of course dual fuel is the most expensive deal for most people.

@Lither - what is your actual annual gas consumption in kWh ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Probably by the CEC nudging people towards commission paying companies, e.g. by agreeing to see only those with three star ratings or better? And of course it still fails to show the whole market, despite all its claims to do so.

I have changed the filters and switching from Quarterly direct debit to Monthly shows cheaper results,

    Utility Point (Just Up 20 Wk34) - £64/month
    Pure Planet (100% Green 12m Fixed Aug20 v1) - £65/month
    E.ON (Fix 1 Year Exclusive August 2020) - £67/month
    SSE (Online Energy v4) - £67/month

I have the filter set to show all ratings but will also check other comparisons website.

Start with Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?'.  Check some others to see whether cashback is available, but if it's a cheap tariff it probably won't be.  Ditto the referrals board here.

Separate suppliers will be cheaper, probably something like Ebico and Neon Reef?

Thanks, I will give them a check and compare the prices before I switch.

I currently have a British Gas smart meter, if I was to go with separate suppliers, do they need to install new meters or just give them meter readings?

Just send meter readings if they don't get them from the meter.
