If they wanted a warranty they should have gone to a car dealership.
  • Fair enough....private sale and all that. There should be no comeback.
However, despite the bangernomics price, I would wonder why a car is being sold after only several months ownership. I would also wonder why "sold as seen" is written on the receipt.

For what it's worth, when selling a car, I point out any issue as I like to be fully transparent. Its probably cost me a sale or two...

The OP says "no known faults" so let's take them at their word.  They don't stand to gain anything other than bad advice by not being truthful in this forum.
I have always written "sold as seen" on any private sale receipt.

If you look on other advice sites they say to put sold as seen on the receipt so it's not unusual for example https://www.theaa.com/car-buying/buyers-sellers-contracts

Its via Facebook messenger, not going to block just not reply, had nothing in the last hour.
You can go into settings and get his messages hidden but they would end up in your message requests under spam.  That way you won't get notification but you can check every so often.  They won't know that you are hiding their messages.  They will know you haven't picked them up.

The time to wonder about that is before you buy the car, not after.

Correct. Doesn't affect this sale but just some general advise to anyone looking to buy a car.
I am happy to concede that 'sold as seen' is a standard term. My cynicism comes from the fact that I have previously been stung by a seller (who had the car for a few months) and 100% knowingly sold it with a major engine fault. I didn't do my due diligence.

I purchased the car back in February as a commute car only so saving the mileage on my Astra VXR. I have now been made a regional engineer so get a company car, this was also stipulated in the advert.
The car was in a worse state when I bought it I completed a full service of all filters and fluids, cleaned egr and turbo wastegate fitted a higher spec stereo and new tyres. The car was only a 57plate 1.3cdti Corsa.

I think the buyer panicked when the AA said the gearbox was shot when all it was was a cv joint. There has no more messages since 5pm yesterday.

    Gearbox >> Driveshaft >> CV joint ... quite a difference. :)

SKF driveshafts for my car are less than £90. That includes 2 CV joints. I can take them off and put new ones on in a few minutes. I don't think the driveshafts themselves are as good as originals though. When the boots go I am tempted to just pop on new driveshafts rather than spend ages putting on new boots and getting my hands covered in grease.
