Robert Jenrick speaks about Parking Cowboys

Blitz on the parking cowboys: Rip-off firms face crackdown as Government plans to outlaw bullying tactics...

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8679983/Rip-firms-face-crackdown-Government-plans-outlaw-bullying-tactics.html

The initiative also proposes a tiered approach to parking fines, with a cap for less serious offences of between £40 and £80, depending on the parking charge system chosen – but both lower than the current £100 cap.

So, the new norm will be £80 ..... a 20% reduction in profits
Will their be a list of this tiered approach or will the operators consider every offence is serious

The system would be mandatory, unlike existing voluntary ones set by the industry. It is being put out for public consultation, which will run until mid-October

Where can the public respond to the consultation ?

I am pretty sure that judges will prefer the EA over a PPC's T&C.  WRT pavement parking, surely a crack down is a good thing.

Now would be a good time to get everybody to complain to their MP.

No doubt ..... but more for councils.
For the private donkeys, it would mean wardens on the ground as ANPR CANNOT PICK THIS UP

Think about the huge costs for PPC's to change ALL the signs for a lower income.   That's what I call a real penalty

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

But Jenrick's a Tory: I thought they'd be keeping the PPC owners sweet?

Given that PE is a part of Capita, who are apparently in financial trouble, I wonder if they will get out of the scam parking business.  They may well be facing unpleasantness wrt TV licences for the over 75s.

A lot of these big firms are in real trouble and there is a lot more to come.  The government should change the BBC charter and let them sell advertising to pay their way.
Boris did say he would not allow over 75's to be taken to court ..... was that just bluster ?
